Hi Lemain, thanks. We are planning to leave San An sometime next May, I have been researching going across the Bay of Biscay and the safest time is June/July. I would leave tomorrow if we could, I have definately become very dissilusioned with Ibiza. But I still have to sort out getting the animals back which as you know we cant take them back on our own boat, so yet another expense having to fly them back, and then returning to the boat to sail it back. I shall be taking them to UK to save on costs, also we don´t like leaving the boat unattended for any length of time. The things we do for pets!!!

We sailed from here to Gib and back October to January and found that we had to go into Marinas at every stop and even with the winter rates altogether that holiday cost us 10000 euros.

[/ QUOTE ]Blimey! Gib, Almerimar and Cartagena out of season are quite cheap though most of the rest are expensive. Trouble is that there are few decent anchorages where you can settle without getting your gravy in your lap every time you eat dinner /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Mar Menor is excellent 365/365 and makes a good half way resting point, and is FREE!

Hi nomad, What's new in San An? Are things starting to calm down? Is Sebastian still doing the bouys or have they made changes yet? Has Free Time managed to get away yet?

Where will you winter - in the marina or on a bouy?

10,000 was everything, don´t forget we were on holiday, although i would say 2 thirds went on fuel (from Gib) and marina costs, the prices varied dramatically from one marina to the next and yes we found almeria the cheapest, but don´t forget our boat is 50´so wherever we go its going to be pricey. We also got salt water in the diesel pump which cost us a lot to be repaired as it was a specialist job that Terry couldn´t do.

No things havn´t calmed down, in fact they are worse at the moment. There are so many boats moored here now its ridiculous, they are anchored right in the bay outside the green buoys, the ferries are having to go around them. Seb came for his money as usual but otherwise havn´t seen him. Free Time left for Denia a couple of weeks ago, the sale seems to be going through although I havn´t heard from them to confirm it yet. Where are you now? If you like we can stay in touch by my email address craw4d2003@yahoo.co.uk

we are going to tough it out on the mooring this winter, not something I am looking forward to, but it is necessary so we don´t have to worry when we get back to UK. And I certainly wouldn´t want to pay to go into San An Marina, definately not worth a fraction of what they would charge us.

Have emailed you. I'll be interested to hear of your experiences on the bouy over the winter - I'm sure there are many here who will equally interested. Do keep us posted!

I'm amazed it's so busy....is it a back-up of those going down for the ARC, perhaps?
