I am generally headed East from Barcelona and will need to leave the boat for a period of four weeks or so in May/June. Last year I moored the boat in Mahon for a month and again for four weeks in Port Colom both very satisfactory and not as expensive as a marina berth. Can anyone advise me if there are any moorings available in either Corsica or Sardinia. I have the Pilot book for the area but its onboard the boat in Barcelona and I am back at work at the moment. Any comments most welcome.

The only ones I am aware of in Corsica are in Calvi, at the NW corner of the island.

I've frequently seen unattended boats spending time there, but cannot comment on prices for long stays.

Prices for overnight stays are about 2/3rds of the nearby marina (which is chock-full in season).

There are ferrys to Italy and France, and there's an airport nearby as well.

It's quite far from the Balearics though (about 300-odd miles from Menorca), and it may be a large detour if you plan to head south afterwards.

We were there last summer and moorings are few - it depends where you're heading for afterwards. As noted by Gianfranco; there are plenty in NW Corsica at Calvi, which are run by the harbourmaster

There were also moorings at Campomoro in SW Corsica, whilst these are I think privately owned, we saw some foriegn flagged vessels on them; I presume you have to negotiate with the owner? Connections from here are likely to be difficult though.

Whilst there are no moorings, the cost of a berth at Castelsardo in NW Sardinia is probably no more expensive than a mooring in Calvi and it never seemed to get too busy. There are regular busses from her to Alghero for Ryanair Flights.

The only other option I could think of is Portoferraio, the main town on the island of Elba (50M east from Corsica), there are sheltered moorings available here and good ferry connections to the Italian mainland.

Castelsardo definately a good bet. They have quoted me E590 from 6th June -2nd August. Have checked all the marinas along this bit of coast and they either don't have room or are far more expensive. It is cheaper than the mooring buoys in Mahon too! Castelsardo now run by the local police! Will pm you the details if you want.
