Moody- Rudder, Hull, - dry blisters

I was looking at Moody (1984) for a friend which is very well equipped, for the price. The owner pointed out he had a few small dry gel coat blisters on the hull and rudder, and that he sought advice, ground them out and filled them with epoxy. The were dry inside. The boat in question is otherwise the best of the bunch he has looked at, but the others don't have the blisters.

Blisters on rudders are quite common on boats from 2000 let alone 1984 . I suggest your friend as a perspective owner joins the Moody owners association as it’s quite cheap and no doubt has many who can point him in right direction. For what it’s worth a reskinned rudder might be £600 to give context if that’s doable on an older moody. I guess a treated boat if checked by a surveyor might be fine though but remember one day he will sell so his buyers might have same concerns.

a good surveyor will always help the situation.
I would say the blisters are easily tackled. I've repaired myself before with some internet and magazine research. PBO did a great write up on sorting blisters.

I also watched this video several times, its probably a lot more deep than what you have but its quite a good watch

Interesting video thanks, but wouldn't like to wait for the weather on the Clyde. I think avoidance of these issues is the way forward in this country.
