Well one could hardly say that it was really a video about the Moody was it? Well made-Yes!! But then most commercial adverts generally are.
I would have been quite happy if the video did not have "Halcyon Yachts " on it, under the false pretence of being a video about the Moody.

But at the end of the day, they have to compete and make a living, so one cannot really blame them. I have to admit that If I wanted a yacht delivered, I would probably think " Halcyon" so they must be doing something right.

You do rather sound like you are moaning about it, but I'm not sure why you find it an issue?
 
The vids are clearly of an advertising/branding nature, but that is a question for the administrators.

It's probably fair to point out that the presented image of caringly sailed and well looked after boats does not chime with at least 'some' of the reports I have heard. This includes the delivery of a wonderful classic where quite a lot of pointless damage was done with lots of arguments later.

Potential customers might consider a careful reading of the contract to be time well spent.

If you are referring to Halcyon, then you surprise me. I've never heard anything bad about them and on the (admittedly small number of) deliveries they have done for me, the boat has generally arrived in better condition than it left!

They did a delivery for me last year and I have nothing but praise for them, superb professional service from start to finish.
 
It's interesting to hear a mixed opinion about my videos. I am a professional sailor and have been running Halcyon Yachts for over 10 years now. As a hobby, I like to make videos. I try and make the sailing videos as interesting as possible. They are often lots of shots of dolphins, sunsets, the people on board and of course the yacht. We deliver a wide range of boats including powerboats so the videos are very varied. Where possible I do the filming and editing, but sometimes the crew will film and then send me the footage to edit. We have over 2000 subscribers on our YouTube channel and I get lots of encouraging comments, this makes me think that the films are entertaining rather than commercial. We do have a video that is an advert, but that's just for our website.

The films can take a long time to make. The yacht owners often enjoy them and I have to say I enjoy looking back at the old ones from time to time to remind me of the journey.

This is still one of my all-time favourites (two years ago, in December, sailing from South Devon to Scotland):

Why should he? Not least because, should he so do, one of the miserable old beggars that pop up on this sort of thread would be up in arms about the fact he wasn't declaring his commercial interest.
 
I would not buy that boat for one reason I don't think it is safe with those patio doors. Take a look at the doors on the Garcia Exploration, they are like a tank for a reason. One large wave would stove in the doors and leave the boat in vulnerable state.

You do realise that the Garcia Exploration and the Moody 45 DS might just be aimed at slightly different requirement sets?

1) the Garcia Exploration is built for exploration, meaning going to roaring 40's type area's. A Moody is not designed for those types of trips.
2) all cats have sliding doors and you don't hear a lot of stories about stoved in doors...
3) How often does a boat get pooped? Let alone pooped in such a way that a wave hits the cabin full on?

Pooping is certainly rare in the normal sense; that said I have for example been broad reaching in a 6-odd metre sea when a wave running at an angle to the wind waves hit the leeward quarter. Boat couldn’t ride it so the wave swept into the cockpit and clattered into the washboards. Unusual, but not uncommon. Green water has surprising strength and wld certainly take the Moody 45’s patio doors clean out.

Not necessarily a show stopper but those doors have got to be a worry.

I suspect that few Moody 45s ever see a 2 metre swell, far less a 6 metre swell. We would not willingly leave the marina if 1 metre was forecast.

You’re probably right; I guess all I’m saying is that green water tends to be menacingly sloshy, then violently thumpy when it hits square objects face on. Hence the curved concrete shapes on piers designed to dissipate that pesky kinetic energy :ambivalence:

That said, sitting up there with that view watching the sun go down is very nice indeed :rolleyes:
 
Love the Moody DS range of boats

The 45 is excellent but the jewel in the crown is the 54. Just about the perfect cruising 50fter. Three decent, well fitted out cabins below all with proper height walk round or next to beds, decent crew cabin or engineering space aft under the cockpit, space to stow and launch a rib inflated. The proper deck saloon at cockpit level is excellent.

The big things about these boats is the proper fit out for sensible money. Way way more complete than most sailing stock until you get to Oyster/Discovery etc etc

Going to Boot to look at motor cats but I'm going to drag SWMBO onto the 54 to see if I can convert her.
 
He used an image and got a demand for payment for commercial copyright use. It was a trap by a photographer. The business model was to post images and then sue when people used them and of course he won in most cases. Dylan was the victim of this guy who was determined to have his pound of flesh and not content with the images being taken down. He wrote about it here and it got quite heated and made matter worse eventually the mods pulled the post and he was never heard of again.
