Moody 42 rudder

A few people have PM me with a same problem , so I tho I give an Update .
After replacing the 4 O ring the next morning I found a smear of water sitting on top .
I was a bit disappointed .
Yes I could had live with it but I rather put the job right .
I manage to get an 20mm of 70x50 stainless tube which I bedded on a bead of sikaflex on top of the shaft tube , once that went of I glassed over the ring and then give it a good coat of gel .
I manage to to buy two 10x70x50 lip seals , although I couldnt find any with SS spring , I could had order then from the UK but it meant waiting a week plus the PP was going to cost almost more then the seals , so I removed the spring and replace them with rubber o rings slightly tighter then the springs .
Finished off by placing 20mm ply under the stealing cables assembly to compresate for the quadrant being higher .
48 hours later , with a full dinghy of water plus seven 20 lts can of water on the back all is still dry .
Only time will tell if it was all worth it .

There is a lot of good info regarding seals on the Moody Owners Association, we replaced ours on our M42 last year with the boat still in the water using the Jefa seals.
