Eh oop !
As they say in these parts living in East Yorkshire. I am hoping to find someone local who would let the Boss and I view either of these boats and just basically speak with an owner. These two have made our short list and she that needs to be obeyed, needs to see the interior prior to us actively searching and purchasing one. Failing that we will be down in the Portsmouth / Southampton area in September if anyone could oblige us. Thanks in advance.
As she says to me "You wear the trousers, but i'm in charge of the zipper "

Kind regards

Vince

Sorry, I can't help with your specific request, but I'll offer my thoughts, as we looked at both boats ourselves last year.

For us, it came down to:

-the Moody is, to our eyes, much the better looking of the two.

- both have very good stern cabins, but the Seahawk's is fabulous for this size of boat

- the Seahawk gets the fab stern cabin by squeezing its galley and saloon, which are, we thought, relatively 'cosy'.

On balance, for what we wanted, we preferred the Moody (assuming two boats in similar conditions, similar prices, with similar inventories, etc, etc).

In the end though, we went for a very well kept Westerly Falcon, as we prefer an aft cockpit.

I can help you out with a 346. We have ours in a marina in Portsmouth and you would be welcome to have a look round. PM me and let me know when you are likely to be coming down and i can see what can be done. I also suggest you look on the Moody Owners website, there is lots of information.

My wife and I trial-sailed a new Seahawk many years ago. Didn't like it - the cockpit is very high and you feel quite exposed and vulnerable. Also, it's a very long way down into the cabin! The 346 would be more user-friendly.

That would be fantastic, I take it Port Solent, I am on the Moody Owners and also the Westerly's. Trying to get to the boat show so will be mid Sept all been well.

Thank you

Vince

If you are coming down to the Solent in September, Moody's, boatyard run a second hand boat show as do a couple of the other Hamble yards, timed for the Southboatshow. There is normally a interesting selection of Moodys available to view.

You might also find a few blogs from those who have sailed their Moody's to the Med which might be informative. We knew of a slightly larger Moody376 which made it to Levkas but presumably bloggers have taken both 346 and Seahawk there and these extended sails might reveal any issues plus a source of informed owners?
