Hi all,

Sorry for the real beginner question, but when I purchased my boat, it only came with what looks like a number 3 headsail.

I am wanting to see if I can find a suitable second hand sail just to see me through a couple of seasons, the only problem is, I have no idea on what size I should be looking out for. Can anyone help? Or if anyone has come across one that they think would do the job that would be great.

Also, how do I know exactly what size luff tape that I need. How would you measure it?

Many thanks

Steve

No.2 Genoa 25.83m² 278 sq ft
Storm jib 6.87m² 74 sq ft

Thanks for that, yeah the option would be to haul up a rope, but that would mean a visit to the boat, and I am too lazy :-)

Thanks for that, great help. How do I work out the thickness required for the luff tape?

That depends on which roller reefing spar you have. A sailmaker will advise tape size once you have the extrusion type.

ask a sailmaker , preferably one that sells second hand sails and im sure you will get quick answers and perhaps even find a suitable sail .

as for pulling up a rope , pull up a european cat II tape instead , its what us sail measures use
