Moody 336 (twin keels) or HR35 Rasmus?

Its these heavyweight NABs

This is Tresco lady alongside at Tarbert

She sat 4" lower in the water than my boat does

My lockers are pretty full too.

Not sure the Nabs arn't a bit heavier somewhere?

Mr.McKenzie! Have you ever heard the expression " They're a' oot o' step but oor Jock!"??

Is she back in the water yet.?

you bit

I see the hook went in well deep.....

Tresco Lady could compete well with you when it comes to filling his bilges with all sorts.

Boat still not in - too many improvements planned and still working my way through them. That said...
- I have fitted an entirely new hydraulic steering system - just couldn't repair the old one - Nice package from Vetus
- Have rebuilt the autopilot with S/H parts I've had for a while and its working
- now have heating ( S/H Taylor Heater) - Wonderful
- New front hatch is half finished but needs finishing - lots of hassle blending all the curves to a flat hatch base - Looks good though
- new second hand cooker - home made gimbals and clamps done and looking good
- engine serviced and ready to go - frost didn't kill it
- Changed a seacock + through hull - the last one - done all the others over last few years.
- lots of other re-furbing - crawled through the lockers chasing scupper hoses and changing jubilee clips. Some a bit loose - don't know whether the frost got them.

Too much travelling - should have taken the boat nearer home for the winter - git a bit carried away with the improvements.

Should go in Mayday weekend. Hope you're nearer the sun now - still Baltic up here

Probably see you then! I'm STILL in Largs! See PBO FORUM PAGE3 OR 4 sail saga!

Thanks

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread! What you said helped gel my thoughts, and as a result I'm now the proud owner of a 1975 HR35 hard-top sloop. One is exceeding chuffed, one is.

Congratulations on your choice. It's also currently my first choice when I get round to changing Sybaris.

Did you at any stage compare with a Neptunian 33 which has more or less the same layout?

I also like very much the Fjord 33 but it lacks one cabin for my requirements.

No, I didn't look at those other boats, mainly because you don't see (m)any this side of the Channel. I looked at a total of 4 HR35s, and this one was streets-ahead in terms of condidtion and spec. (Ludd if you look on the binnacle you'll see it has a cheat button for those dodgy moments in locks :D).

Current boat name is Olle (no prizes for why). To me, a boat with a man's name feels very weird, so it will be changed post-haste to "Frida", after the Swedish beauty I used to drool over in 1975! Taking possession Thursday next week in Friesland (NL) which will be her home port for the remainder of this season. Next year, who knows?

Thanks for your interest!

Abba die fraulein ist meine liebe

Ludd. I wish you "immer eine Handbreit Wasser unter dem Kiel". That's a phrase you can impress the Gerries with in Greece. Even shorten it to "Immer ne Handbreit!" and a cheery wave as you leave the pontoon and head out into those azure waters for your next dream anchorage. Wish I was there, I really do.
