Moody 333 mast support

Sorry I do not have expert advice on Moody yachts, but I expect they were built in a similar way to many other production yachts. A common cause of the dip in the deck at the mast could be the plywood pad under the mast within the deck to spread the load has rotted due to water entry (usually poorly sealed elecrical cables). The way to fix it is to cut away the top of the deck around the mast support and replace the plywood, then refit the deck section. It will mean the mast has to be removed. Before cutting, remove the mast step and check the condition of the plywood by inserting a thin screwdriver into the plywood core. If it is not solid then this is almost certain to be the problem.

If it's the same as my old M33 Mk1 there is a post under the mast as part of the bulkhead. The bottom of that post sits on a hardwood block. Mine was OK when I sold the boat but several owners have reported rot in the wooden block that allowed the post to drop a little under pressure from the mast

+1

This is a known problem on some models and an easy enough fix.
