I have a friend that is interested in a Hawk however most of them are really showing their age. Are there any shipyards that are building models similar to the Sunseeker SuperHawk 34?

Sunseeker do a superhawk 43 which is very nice but a little bigger.

Obviously the Hunton XRS37 is along the same lines as the Superhawk 34. more in terms of performance and handling but less in terms of accomidation.

The Windys are pretty rapid and great hulls. not cheap tho even for an older boat!

The Windys always seem to have a low top end for same size engine compared to Sunseeker & Hunton . But as Z1ppy says its all a compromise

Low has to be relative? anything plus 38 kts for a sports cruiser is pretty quick by any standards. its just we are spoilt with the luxuary of being able to smoke most things on the water at will!

We looked at the superhawk 34 before buying the Hunton. Nice boats and more space than the Hunton but they are a little dated in styling (we were looking at 1999 and 2002 boats i think). in the end, the performance was what did it for us and made our decision.

They did a larger thunderhawk 43 with tripples which was quite a machine! remember seeing one completly airborne on several occasions when watching the Cowes Torquay Cowes race a few years back.

Those Performance are amazing boats.
There is also Tulio Abbate who seems again reborn in recent years, offering a good power boat build in Italy.

There used to be some great offers coming from Italy in past years; Ilver, Bruno Abbate, Airon Marine (think Mapis had one of these) etc in this sort of boats. Pity most of them went bigger.
I would also look at some US boats in this type of boat like Donzi, Formula, Fountain etc

UPDATE
Colombo is Definitly a show stopper for sure for its finishing and detail work. Can make all above boats mentioned (may be accept the Ilver) look to be made by students.... Honestly!
I think its hull though from a big fan is not very much performance orientated. Hope you understand what I mean.
But again the new ones (Sarnico Gruop made models) are designed by a certain Bruno Acampora from Victory Design Italy who is considered best current fast hull designer along Micheal Peters from the US.

The Superhawk 34 really had the perfect (subjective) balance of performance and functionality which nowadays most seem to be lacking in the sub 40' boat range. Either the builders go all out on functionality and under power the boats or they are so performance oriented that small details, such as a deck shower, are missing.

The Performance Boat are fantastic indeed and the Colombo look like amazing. Sarnico 43 is superb with the lines of a Rivarama. How is the performance of the Colombo as they look quite comfy but can they get up to 40knt?

PS. Maybe I'm missing something but seems to me those bow/stern single sunbeds split in the middle are great if you're in the middle of a divorce. :D

MapisM, I always like Colombo's but you never (nor does anyone else) seem to suggest them. Anyhow, what a bout a Colombo 35 Virage?
It's not true that I never suggest them.
Some time ago, I recommended a 32' HT for instance, which is a rather unique boat. Can't remember why and when exactly, though.
In fact, Colombo is a yard which I know rather well, 'cause they used to be based in Menaggio, where my lake home is.
Some years ago (well before they sold the yard) I also met Giacomo, and almost bought a boat from him, before I eventually bought an Airon Marine from Paolo Molinari, basically for price/performance considerations.
Anyway, back to your question, the Virage is a great boat, waaaay superior to the Superhawk in all respects, with the only exception of flat out performance.
But I was answering the OP question, and the Performance 1107 is imho the best answer.
In Colombo range, the Aliante would be the model which is closer to the Superhawk, but it's a tad smaller.

I must (partially) disagree, PY.
Some Formulas models could be fairly comparable to the Superhawk, but Donzi and Fountain are in another league, performance-wise.
Fast as it might appear to someone, the Superhawk becomes a sort of training toy, when compared for instance to a Fountain 38' (which would be the right model to compare with the s/skr).

The Aliante is a beautiful boat indeed
Absolutely. And no pic makes justice to her.
When seen in flesh, and particularly while cruising at speed, she definitely deserves her name, which is the Italian for glider.
And she's fast, too.
When I had the Fountain 27' on the lake, I engaged in a race with one of those, and only when trimmed out at full wot, a tad above 70mph, I was (just) able to leave her in my wake... :)
I believe that she had 5.7 petrol engines.

there really are some lovely boats coming from Italy but just not seen over here!?

With regard the split sunpad, i find it really useful, the easiest way on and off our boat is from the bathing platform (side decks are very narrow and no rails to hold on to) and not having to walk over the sunpad, particually when its damp, is very handy!

I guess the problem with the problem with the superhawk 34 is in todays market, its just too small for sunseeker to build and make money.

I actually has the opportunity to ride a 34 Hawk (thats the original model name) with twin KAD44s Volvo 260hp diesels and actually the boat felt a bit light in head seas, which needs a little trim playing in anything over 4 foot waves.
OTOH a friend went on the 40 Superhawk, same hull and boat but with Yanmar diesels and Buzzi trimax drives, and a tad extended box platform where the drives actually hang, and the boat according to him performs much better.
We have one locally and seeing it passing by does look better a ride to the 34 Hawk.

Lots of great suggestions and opinions in this thread.

I know it's splitting hairs but the combination of (A) rear facing aft sunbed (B) bow sunbed (C) cabin w double bed that sleeps 2 (C) side railings (D) sun cover bimini top that look good like from the Sunseeker's arch and (E) performance deep V 40-50 top speeds seems like wishful thinking??

I'm pretty sure that at Performance they would gladly build a boat for you with all of that, and with even faster top speed if desired.
I'm just not positive on the GRP arch.
