1000bhp, that's exactly what i thought of as well but couldnt remember the name!

I was behind it as we were both refuelling in port Grimaud last summer - I have some pictures somewhere but cant find them for some reason grrr

Well, I doubt that she can be anywhere near a 200+ mph (no, not a typo!) turbine cat, as far as scary speed is concerned... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Wery nice indeed, though, and she does look built for serious speed.
The anti-nose diving shape of the bow reminds me of the FB hull afterwards used as for the XS2000.

No will never attain that sort of speed although they do claim she is the worlds fastest diesel production powerboat.

Its more the engineering, fit and finish thats Veyron

I just read on their site that my guess was correct, FB was involved in the boat design.

Yeah but. No but...that's sleek, impractical, fast and so on. Veyron is reality stood on its head. It's madder than mad Jack McMad, three times winner of the all Scotland madness competition, as Blackadder would have put it. Veyron has engineering solutions for problems that no-one needed to solve.

It does seem strange that practically all the car brand/boat brand comparisons use UK, Italian or bloody german car manufacturers?

Why ignore japanese brands. Look on UK roads and you see thousands of good realiable very capable Japanese cars.

I have always had the contention that car badge snobbery dictates that a lot of folks would only buy bloody german cars, oh its got to be a BMW or Merc cos of the badge.

Put it this way I would rather my Princess be compared to a Honda than a bloody Opal for goodness sake, I mean how many Opals do you see on UK roads.

all IMO of course.

Admittedly, very few, but you do see the odd Vauxhall or two.

Nice pic! My berth in Antibes is right opposite, bow to bow, her sistership, Borkumriff IV. They are a beautiful pair of boats. (Except Bork looks a bit founny for the last 3 months - her masts have been taken away for servicing)

to be honest i wanted to put the Princess with Audi or similar
I dont know where Opel came from
Cranchi = Toyota as they are very realiable boats at a very competitive price, is not toyota about the same thing
Absolute = Opel
Princess = VW
Fairline = Audi
but this is fun and to be honest I use it a lot when I offer new makes to clients that they dont know off, which happens a lot
most famous line I use is the Ferretti - Mercedes e.g. which I think is pretty true
