Ferrari maybe nearer the mark, being the fastest kid on the block at moment in IPS guise anyway, anyway pershings are great lumps of things need massive horsepower to make em go, whereas a triple IPS 600 ABS 56 goes as fast but is lithe, nimble, responsive just like a proper Ferrari should be (not unlike Mrs Nautical /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
 
Didn't realise you had a QP. Gorgeous machines. I have often thought about one instead of M5. Good to hear you suffered only 40% depn. What did you replace it with? (Not a people carrier, surely?)

Oh, and there's nothing wrong with Fiats, at least not the current generation Panda :-)

Like it! I'll settle for Bristol, thanks, and wouldn't (couldn't?) argue with your remarks which I very much enjoyed. Not 70 yet and my SWMBO and children say I'll never grow up - but I did enjoy the Flintstones so you could be right there too ...

But I promise you, when it gets bumpy we'll still be doing 18 -20 knots and making tea when many on here with boats other than Targas will be holding very tight and down around 13 or 15. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
 
.. replaced with an Audi (A8 4.2 diseasel), which had depreciated as much in the 6 months before I bought it as the QP did in 3 yrs! I suppose it does support the Princess / Audi brand association though?
 
Gran Turismo is the one that would tempt me back, just absolutely gorgeous, no matter which way or from what angle you look at it, it just looks right, others are better at this that or the other but as a package it kind of reminds me (in a very off beat peculiar way /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) of what the first of the MK11 Jags achieved in the 60's, they had looks, pace, grace and space and didn't cost Roller money. I have to admit though its the looks that would push me, I couldn't really be bothered about the minor details or the 0.5 sec to 60 xxx mph malarky, which begs the question how much do the looks of a sports cruiser or other influance the purchase. I would hazard a guess far more than most people would let on!.
 
Maybach and Veyron

I was wondering what these cars remind you of, in boating world...
...I won't tell in advance the two builders that came to my mind for these two extremes, but one of them doesn't actually make MoBos, to start with!
Suggestions?
 
Sorry, my post was a bit tongue in cheek. A friend of mine had one of the previous model Coupe's and it scared him witless in the wet, finally launching him off the A41 at some huge speed. Now he's got a proper car (911)!
Agree that the QP and latest GT are absolutely beautiful
 
Ok! at the risk of turning this into a motoring forum (no problem with that, after all it is winter) regarding Maserati's I'm now on my third, first a Gransport great car good handling then a QP auto couldn't fault it (quicker round the EVO track than an M5 so didn't "fly off corners backwards" now just got a GranTurismo and can't stop grinning.
Ok! back to boats.

Sealine = Rover surely?

Perfectly good mainstream product yet desperate to be seen as an upmarket alternative, both by manufacturer and owners.

On the other hand, for such a crazy car as the Veyron (with apologies to Maybach owners for ranking their car slightly less insane), only an air entrapment machine can compare.
There are many choices, actually, but this is the first I thought of...

for me,
1, it was pedigree 40% (Shead design) it'll handle some rough stuff,if you have to,older design but built like the proverbial outhouse,(in brick of course)
2,30% history, hours run, how many owners and maintenance records,and the paper to back it up.
3,30% is she pretty?is she good looking when approached from land, sea or air.
4,0%is she a viable financial proposition? who gives a [--word removed--]! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I thought of this for Veyron, mainly cus thats what they promote it as, saw it charging up and down the Solent, its fast....like scary fast /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
