does anyone have wireless internet at haslar marina? if so have yopu tryed to see how far it will see connected? i want to know if i can connect in the mess block at fort blockhouse. the company that provides the internet will let us subscribe but arn't sure of the range it has.

We are in Haslar on berth F44, thats the pontoon the huge blue power boat now moored at Gunwarf Key was moored on - we were about 10 berths from the end

I reckon this is about 70% of the distance to Fort Blockhouse from their antenna which I think is by the ramp down to the marina

With a notebook and a plug in USR wireless network card I can just get a signal and if I raise the PC to about 4' above sea level I get a good connection- they recomend an external antenna and I guess with one of those it would work fine for me.

You can try the connection because even if you are not subscribed, you get a wireless connection to their home page - I reckon with your height and an external antenna you would be in with a good chance of a connection

For what its worth we are laid up for the winter in Ken Browns yard in the Camber and I checked this afternoon for a wireless signal (as you do) and found nothing

thanks for that. the haslar antenna is on toilets on g block. i'm on F14 i think.
