Can anyone suggest a suitable engineer for installing a second-hand engine in a boat ashore at Norwich?

Money is tight, which probably rules out the big names, but it does need to be done properly. We need the old engine lifting out (all cables/pipes wires will already be removed), and the replacement engine lifted in, mountings fitted, and engine aligned and connected to the shaft (I will re-install cables/pipes etc.). As far as I have been able to measure, no alteration of the beds will be required, but the mountings will be in slightly different positions on the beds to the current engine.

Take a drive down to Brundall over the level crossing and past the wherry pub and have a mooch about the little units down there. There are several small engineering bods hidden up there but no experience part from Marinepower who did my MB2 50s once, if they're still there.

I'm just about to have my 1GM10 replaced with a Beta14 by Nick, having seen his work on a friend's Fulmar (Volvo2002 out, Beta25 in). He travels all over and may be able to help if he's in your part of the world, probably worth a call anyway.

I can recommend Gerald Abbott, Marine Engineer. He's based in Suffolk but certainly worth giving him a call on 07880 721193.
