Sounds as if a MOB from a yacht has been flown to hospital. According to what the CG is saying, yacht Carrow found an empty yacht in Coverack bay and raised the alarm, a few hours ago. Presumably this is a single hander. 30 minutes ago the CG was talking to the SAR helicopter, then at the hospital, to confirm they had the casualty they were looking for. Yacht is being towed to Falmouth. Sorry missed the name.

Very sad indeed. So near & yet so far.

I heard Falmouth Coastguard on 16 talking to a chap and enquiring as to the state of the casualty. The reply was that he appeared to be dead, floating face down in the water. The chap was trying to get a line on him.

The yacht is a gorgeous yawl, 40 something ft long I'd say. She looks in great condition (no main boom though I noticed).

Just heard the outcome of this search; how utterly tragic. RIP and condolences to all affected.

Not much sea, flood with SW wind behind it, except that in that area if close enough (>1nm) off Black head the 19ft spring tide flood runs SE and stirs things up a bit. Not enough to affect that boat very much.

Sailing that boat single handed is pretty amazing - contrary to the BBC article she is more like 80 feet long overall - 12m on the waterline but 24m from bowsprit to end of main boom according to the for sale website....
