Nil - but you don't need it.

The whole point of the bluetooth solution is that it would trigger if for any reason it lost contact with the safety tag - be it for falling overboard, the battery going flat or it being hit with a hammer.

That is why it is a failsafe system - unless it is sure you are still on the boat it will trigger the alarm.

We in South Africa have a number of people who make radio remote controls for opening and closing garage doors and driveway dates, but non of then are water proof as would be needed on a boat . I looked at RS for waterproof keypads and could not find one totally sutiable so ended up designing my own which I am currently puting together for myself.

Over several years I have put up remote control lights and other controlls in my home and office so the electronics in not a problem, just the packaging (waterprook) which I think I now have solved

I also hope I now with the links to the bluetooth software drivers I can look at some of the other applications for gadgets I have in mine for my new yacht like the MOB unit that started this thread

as bedouin said no need as fail safe. Bluetooth has a range in free air of 20, 50 or 100 meters depends on the standard selected and on most narmal yachts if you go outside the 20meter range you are off the yacht and unless tied up to the dock you must be overboard and loss of signal would trigger the alarm and save GPS position on plotter and may cut engines if under power. The unit could also disconnect self steering or autopilot, I have seen some time ago a system that would chect which tack the yacht was on and put the helm hard over to bring the yacht up into the wind and thus stop

But as far as I can tell, the system is already more expensive than other systems on the market - adding EPIRB or DSC would drive that cost up even more.

Yes it looks it might do the job. Did you get it in the UK if so where and how much, supplier on web site seem to in the US only

I don't see that developing a system to do this, with links to Bluetooth devices/GPS/rudder indicator/wind indicator/whatever would be that difficult.

The stumbling block these days would be the cost of product and liability insurance for the company that marketed it - this would be what would drive the pricing way up.
