Mnemonics for flags, light sequences, night identification ,COLREGs ..

Now there must be loads of these, but I only know a few. Can you add any more?

White hats, red noses - Pilot on board flag
Red over white - fishing at night (like wise green for trawling)
One ball - anchored,
Three balls - total balls up, aground

White Over Red - Pilot Ahead
Red over Red - captains in the Head (vessel not under command)
Red-White-Red - Red When Restricted (by draught)
Red-Red-Red - Rudder Rubbing Rocks
White Over White - Short Tow In Sight
White over White over White - Long Tow in Sight
Yellow Over White -My sternline is tight

Long list but it's the only way I can remember the damn things!

Just in case you want to make a Flag Z (I require a tug, etc.)
Black to the mast, blue to the fly, red to the deck, and yellow on high.

Cardinal marks

The Black/Yellow colour pattern can be found from the double triangular shape: the two triangle apexes point to the black colour.
For ex, a North cardinal with the two triangles pointing up means black over yellow; an East cardinal with the two triangles with the apexes pointing upward and downward means Black over Yellow over Black, etc

For the cardinal lights, think about the clock: East cardinal is at 3o'clock--> quick flashing in groups of 3; south is QF in groups of six (plus a longer flash); West is nine flashes; North should be 12 but it is continuous QF

another thing about cardinals If you think of them as a YELLOW buoy with arrows to the black bits it helps.
