Now that Autumn is with us I am suffering misty instruments again.

Very hard to see until a few hours of sun makes them readable again.

Any ideas ?

Would putting something under the covers help ?

Thanks in advance.

You would think that marine instruments are hermetically sealed sufficienty to withstand moisture ingress through a wide range of temperature and atmospheric conditions-or the opposite they are designed with sufficient free airflow inside-tp prevent this problem.
Have you tried contacting the manufacturer for specific advice first ?
Perhaps you have open cable glands and moisture collecting in the instrument pod housing (poor drainage) or drastically need to drill a fine drain hole into the bottom of each offending unit ?
I would start by contacting the manufacturer.

My analogue B&G instruments develop moisture at times when the temperature falls. They have an air vent at the back which does allow some damp in. The manual suggests putting the lights on for a while but we find bringing them home and storing in the airing cupboard to be the best solution.

"Desiccators.
Should any display window show signs of moisture having penetrated the seals, e.g. misting of the glass or
condensation, the instrument should be removed and returned to the B&G Service Department for drying."

From the B&G maintenance recommendations.

Alternatively put the screw out aluminium housed dessicator in the oven to dry it out.
