Missing Hull ID number and SSR application

Hi,
I've bought a 1952 wooden C & N and the previous owner
is adamant there are no ID numbers on it at all - anywhere.

In applying to the Small Ships register for registration, is it
sufficient to write "unknown" in the HIN field? (I'd ask the SSR
but there is no phone number). Many thanks in advance.

SSR is a department of the Registryof Shipping and Seamen, they're based in Cardiff and their number is: 029 2074 7333
