I'm looking to purchase a Mirage 2700. There's one on a broker's list on the East Coast said to have been built in 1971 and launched in 1981. I thought that they did not exist before 1980. Does anyone know different?

1980 it is, they were made by Thames marine until about 1984 when production was taken over by a company in Laindon "Boating Scene" until the late 1980's ish. Thames Marine made GPO van bodies instead of boats - at least thats the story as I understand it.

I bought a Mirage 2700 last summer and have no regrets. In what remained of the season I sailed in the Irish Sea, across to the Isle of Man and she lived up to every expectation. I'm not aware of any built in the 70's. I understand the 2700 was a replacement for the Mirage 28. There is one currently advertised that was built in the early 90's which surprised me. I suspect that 1971 is a mistake.
