US mains electrickery is 110v as opposed to it being 220v here. Won't make a difference if the tv is 12v though.

Check that the TV is PAL compliant or compatable or something like that.

Re: mini tv\'s on ebay

It has to be either multi standard, or PAL, but if it's from the states it's likely to be NTSC4, which is no good here. Check, carefully, if it's OK for Europe, thats also no good for UK.

I think UK is the same as most of Europe (PAL) except France which has it's own standard (SECAM).

Some details at <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.german-way.com/german/paltv.html>http://www.german-way.com/german/paltv.html</A>

Yes, but the continent transmits on different frequencies for sound and picture, where as we transmit on the same frequency, or vice versa, I can never remember. Anyway, my dutch tv wouldn't work in uk, picture or sound, but not both. My UK tv won't work in portugal/Spain, same problem.

Re: mini tv\'s on ebay

Just for info the way I got TV was to get a laptop with built in DVD player which I frigged to multi region, i.e RPC 0, then I got hold of a USB TV tuner box and hey presto combo DVD/TV with low power consumption 15in screen which can run via battery, 12v or 240v. I am rather lucky being an IT nanager as I get 'old' laptops through my dept all the time. Just ensure its running W2K or XP and you should have no problems.

Re: mini tv\'s on ebay

If they're from the US, they use the NTSC (NeverTheSameColour) system which isn't compatible w/PAL. Check for multi-standard.
