Mile Per Gallon

Assuming my engine (Suzuki 65hp Oil Injection) is fully service, could anyone tell me roughly how many miles per gallon it will do. Sounds odd that on the sea, "miles per gallon"!

Rule of thumb for two-stroke petrol engines is 9gal/hr (41lt/hr) per 100hp at wide open throttle. So worst case scenario on your Suzuki is 0.65 x 9 = 6 gal/hr. Less throttle = less consumption. Quite where the most efficient cruising speed falls will depend on hull, weight, prop etc

I had a 30hp yamaha O/b on a 4m avon searider which did 3 gallons per hour on a blast from Fleetwood to the Isle of Man once at full chat. I was carrying so much fuel at first it took around 2 miles to get up on the plane, it definitely went quicker as I went through the fuel then I had to slow down because I thought I was going to run dry!

Sure you dont mean gals per mile! as kim says 9gper 100hp perh..we worked on 1 gal per hr per 10 hp in old days..so hasnt changed much! read somwere the "oriana" does 3meters per gal! ..so your 65horses will be cheap to feed...

Wouldn't it have been better to hold it just on the plane? Isn't that where you get the most mpg (or fewest gpm)?
