We want to shop at Migros, but we don't want to stay overnight and pay Netsel Marina prices. Anyone got any ideas on how to achieve this? For example, could we arrange to stop for an hour or so, perhaps on or near the fuel pontoon? Or, could one of us be dropped off to do the shopping and picked up when it's done, without actually mooring? Are there any pitfalls?

No problem dropping one of you off at the main town quayside..you just have to look for an empty spot and go bows-to,dropping off the shopper, then back out and potter around the bay till he/she has finished. Then repeat the process to pick up . Use your mobile phones to communicate if you don't have hand held VHF.Done it twice with no hassle.
The place is ,as you will no doubt know, usually crammed with Gulets, but they come and go all the time so there is always somewhere to nip in.

Good afternoon:

Lazy lines were laid last winter and there is now a joker boat (RIB) buzzing around the harbour to assist yachts mooring.

As it would be difficult to load supplies over the pulpit while someone keeps the yacht off the quay I suggest you go to the fuel quay as if you were going to re-fuel, put someone ashore and ask if you can remain there for a few minutes while that person qoes to Migros to get supplies.

I think this would be permitted unless there were others trying to re-fuel. If they refuse, for whatever reason, simply cast off and mess about until the shopper returns.

I am sure the fuel dock attendant would be reasonable if you avoid the days when charter yachts were returning and needed to re-fuel.

There is often open quay side space right in front of the Migros store immediately south of the bridge in front of a large wooden motor boat that has been there for years - occupied at night by the "pump out" boat.

Cheers

Avoid charter boat changer over day, which is mayhem on the fuel dock.....................................Squeaky, what day is that? It's been a while?

I am not involved with any of the charter companies but it seems there is a lot of boats returning on Friday and Saturday evenings who will want to fill their tanks and pump out holding tanks at the pump boat which will be stationed at the end of the ferry quay. There will also be a lot leaving on Saturday and Sunday however they will be starting with full tanks.

The week-ends are also a good time to avoid at Migros in any case as the charter yacht crews will be there filling lots of trollies with the necessities of life such as beers and bottled water.

Going off at a slight tangent...if you want to visit Marmaris with no hassle, you can stay for a day or so in Ciftlik and take the minibus (aka dolmus) which runs twice in the morning and afternoon to Marmaris. It is a very pleasant and interesting trip, through the mountains and costs peanuts.
