Micro SD card stuck in plotter

I would caution against forcing it. I managed to bend the little contacts in the plotter which stopped it working until they were straightened out.

I have a tablet that I gave to a pal who has the gear and capability to replace micro SD card slots .... why ? I had a card stuck and impatiently forced it out. That action caused the locking mechanism inside the slot to fail .... any card then inserted just sprang back - not able to stay in. He replaced the slot item and that tablet is still in use.
He showed the way to to do it with the thin blade that I described earlier.

Would this work? Trouble with phone and think it was Google that said get another card and glue it in edge to edge, leave overnight, remove. Worked for me

There are some potential problems with that approach that I will not go into. In the present case, I would only resort to that as the last option.

I’ve been pondering vic008 comment and beginning to think it may have some merit.
I don’t want to risk damaging the (expensive) card/cartography. I was thinking about using superglue along the edge with something other than another card, maybe a strip of 2mm ply or similar.
I also like the folded drinks can idea and still rate the sharpe knife as iffy. If I go down this route I’ll use my Swan Morton modelling knife with No2 blade. I bought it in the 1960s and it’s been in regular service ever since ?

Firstly, you will need a good adhesive as the contact patch is small. Something like a cyanoacrylate/solvent adhesive would be up to the job but if the smallest amount wicks its way down the side of the card, it's game over.

Secondly, if you do get the card out you then have to separate the two cards. I'm assuming that this is not just a storage issue where you can copy the data off the old card which would be fine. If the card is protected and the physical separation causes it to fail, it's game over once again.

To bring this thread to a close, I’ve now successfully removed the errant micro SD card.

I sprayed the area with switch cleaner and waited about an hour. I used a curved, sewing needle, a semi-circle of about 50mm diameter.

A knife blade would not pass between the slot and the card. The needle managed to grip the two sides of the card. Its shape worked as a lever against the sides of the slot. A little movement, one side at a time until it was out far enough to grab, very carefully, with a pair of pliers.

I’ve yet to build-up enough courage to re-insert it but that’s best saved for another day ?

Magic ... I'm happy you didn't spray WD40 in there !!

OK - what you can do ... you can take clear thin tape and create an 'ear' on the card ...

Tape piece is long so you can apply one side .... have a nice extra tail before doubling it back to other side of card ....

Make sure that contacts and also the locking tab part are clear of tape.

You could if you want add a strip of hard plastic in the tail glued with CA to the card edge ... but if you do - then if unit has door to close over top of card - it will not close. Leaving the tape tail without lets it fold away clear.

Now you have a tail you can pull if card does not want to come out ... if tail comes off - you already know how to remove card !!

If the Contact Cleaner is Plastic Safe and non residue - you could give a few short bursts in the slot ... let it evaporate than try card.
