Can anyone identify the manufacturer of this chip (see pic) which is installed on ENGEL Refrigerator. The chip has been damaged and needs replacement. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

You can't link to an image in your own computer. Set up an account with Photobucket, upload your pic, then link to it in Photobucket.

I think it's Samsung, but looking at it, I think it's a dedicated hybrid circuit (rather than a 'chip as such), so the only place you'll get one is from the original supplier.

I've been wrong before, though. How did it get 'damaged' ?

The damage could be from internal heat and pressure. ie blown apart by overload. As suggested it is a hybrid of many components and so probably made specially for Engel.

The older Engel fridges ran on 50 hertz Ac to the sealed compressor unit. This was produced by a sine wave inverter in the form of an oscilator with 2 germanium power transistors and a transformer. There was provision for running it on mains power by feeding the mains into a suitable winding on the transformer.
However this information is a bit useless as clearly your chip is not out of an old model Engel.

Before you replace the hybrid circuit you should check to try to find a reason for the overload as it may do it again. ie I wonder if running the fridge on DC when a smart regulator is charging the battery might have given the fridge too many volts ie about 15v.
Or there may be another fault in the fridge. good luck olewill

Definitely a custom "hybrid" chip. The only way you will get one is from the fridge manufacturer or their authorised spares.

Even if you could identify the manufacturer of the chip, they will not be able to supply to you. 1, they will have designed and supplied under contract and will not be allowed to supply to anyone else. 2, They will probably have manufactured in batches of 1000's and will not be able to make "one-off".

I fully agree with you. It should be a capacitors bank. But it is not Samsung. There are more components in the power pack whcih are marked DEC and therefore it should be from the same manufacturer. Any idea who is DEC?
