Miami

<font color=blue>I'm thinking of it if I can get enough of us together to buy a package deal. I want Club Class Tickets, accomodation and as a side issue smoking allowed on the plane. I'm hoping for an all in price about $25 a head.

Is Miami that relevent to potential English boat owners, given that certain USA boats can be viewed at dealers over her. Its a long way to go to see boats IMHO

Isn't that a bit like saying should I buy the latest copy of readers wives, after all I'm never going to have a go on any of them.

Surely the idea of a boat show is to have a look at what is available, and in the case of Miami the choice is considerable, you get to save money on gizmo's and the weather is rather nice for this time of year.

Piston, you are a very deep thinker. I wonder how many people who go to the SBS and the LBS actually buy anything apart from visiting the Guinness stand. OK I mucked up, met Barry, had too many Guinness's and ended up buying a Glastron, but lesson learnt, only 9 Guinness next time (it's the last one that did it). Re Miami, Fly out, chill out, and buy nowt, enjoy the weather and come back even more bitter as to why get get ripped off over here so much!!!! And tell us all about it.

That's exactly why we're going back this year - I've never known 'er indoors (Norf Lunnun born & bred) take to a place so avidly !
So off on the 24th to Key Largo for some diving, then Kew West for some drinking then Everglades for a bit of yer culture. But stuck in Saudi til then - can't wait !

Trev

When you put it like that Trev sounds like it may justify the expense of the trip.
Isnt everthing American always on a grander scale, more room more money etc

Spose if you could by a gizmo (making sure it is ok for use in England) a gizmo such as a Radar, GPS etc, and save more than the cost of the air fare and hotel, its starts to make sense.
However given the that most English seem to go for English or european boats, has anyone on the forum I wonder, bought a boat whilst at the show in USA?

key Largo

yep - based at the Marriott in Key Largo ourselves; dive shop and facilities like everywhere!
My trip was a long weekend for SHMBO without the kids and went very wel. I didn't fish once although I returned with rods, electronics and dive gear!

Loved the sign on a bar in Key West - summed it up perfectly - Key West; a drinking town with a tourist problem!

My reason for asking the orig question was that I might be able to put faces to names at the show. Wife and I will drive over next Thurs and spend a couple of days there. Trev, you should also visit South Beach if you haven't already. Lot of "sights" and a lot of fun. Much more Latin than American.
Re comments by others, we just like being around boats, whether it's SBS, LBS or Miami. And of course, Miami might make a nice break from the UK winter gloom, though having said that, we have a touch of that gloom here this morning, but it's close to 70F already.

Reckon I'd go and take in the show whilst on a holiday, that makes more sense, than flying over for a couple of days for the show. Make it a week at least great

I can't disgree w/that. Same as I do w/LBS etc if I go. However regardless of the US/Euro boat thing, Miami and Ft Lauderdale shows are something to experience if only for their sheer size, organisation and range of boats, IMHO. Oh, and the weather!
