Yes, I suppose when you tear around everywhere at almost 5 knots, those seconds spent waiting for the windless must seem like an eternity :-)

I hit 7kts last weekend - with only a half a sail up. :p My point is click-clacking the lever to & fro for a few inches of chain seems daft when I can pull it up a meter at a time & I can feel when it is "up & down" & know exactly when it breaks out. :cool:

I guess you push a button in your greenhouse & in due course it sets in the bow roller.:rolleyes: It may be easy, but there ain't much contact with reality for me in that.

Yep thats just about it, but done right, you know exactly whats going on.

What a good do. Found a bloke in Glasgow who knows all about winches, had spares as well.

He said, pull it to bits and clean it up, it should be fine.

So I did, got all the crud off the clutch and slapped it together.

Hooked the anchor round a pontoon cleat and draged the marina round a bit.

Good do!!
