Amazing October weather , only 13 weeks to Xmas and an expensive pile of glassfibre sitting there doing nothing.
Stock up with refreshments and a light lunch, instruct thegrandkids "crew" to leave the Ipads at home ask a few friends along for the ride and off out to meet the PS Waverley on her way into the river on a tourist trip from the Thames.
Check her progress via AIS and Medway VTS and first reports put her giving her 350 passengers a 360 degree up close view of the Richard Montgomery and on in past Garrision Point.
Always an impressive sight to see her nipping along at a fair lick and us with mucky bottom having trouble keeping up.
Anchor up in the lee of one of the forts for lunch and await her return back downstream after turning opposite the PS Medway Queen moored at Gillingham.
and away she goes past the old Napoleonic fort
....a stiff but warm westerly breeze had all manner of yachts out enjoying the weather including some biggish cruisers, the number of Mobos out you could count on the fingers of one hand.
Made for an interesting trip weaving in and out but with cheerful waves and smile from virtually all including the racers and safety boats..
Rumours of a few warm days left as well or has everybody else put their boats to bed ?
