Merry Fisher 925 question

I have now had my question answered, apparently the 925 is unable to take the ground without some serious modifications to the superstructure. I'll probably now look for a Beneteau series 9 or similar as I know they can.

Interesting, I've seen one out the water locally with yacht legs fitted and they do have a skeg fitted from new to sit on... I would have thought they are built to dry out.
What modifications are they supposed to need?

As long as the keel and prop protection is sufficient, I suspect the only other mod is that the leg brackets need decent backing plates on the inside to spread the load.
That's been the case on the boats I've had (760 had legs from new, Ocqueteau before I added legs on).

No skeg to take the boat’s weight unlike the 7.60. The drawbacks to the Series 9 for me would be the ridiculously narrow bed in the fore cabin (around 4’ iirc) and the size of the engine. Only an extra 60hp over the 760 in a boat weighing 2t more or thereabouts.

And the £20k premium over the 760 :D

So does all the weight of the rear of the boat rest on this little metal skeg???
