Merry Fisher 695 fuel consumption figures?

Can anyone give me some info. on fuel figures for a Merry Fisher 695 with a 150TD volvo?

Approximately 1 gallon per hour at tick over = +/-3 knots
Approximately 3 gallons per hour at 8 knots
Approximately 6 gallons per hour (maybe fractionally less) at between 12 and 16 knots
Approximately 9 gallons per hour at 18 knots
Approximately 11 gallons per hou at WOT = +/- 21.5 knots light load.

Hi Alex

It's a utilitarian, but very sea worthy boat for it's size. Built to a bit of a budget (caravanesque), but will take almost anything the sea can throw at it.
Hardish ride in a head sea, but slow down a little and drop the nose (using trim tabs) and she'll cut through. Try and avoid the waves at 20ish degrees to the stem as that is about the only angle that gives a graunching slam as the wave gets trapped under the chine.

Wet boat due to the semi displacement hull, but this means she is solidly in the water so don't worry.
The semi displacement hull also means she isn;t the most fuel efficient (see figures above) which is frustrating when the tank is only 130 litres. I do a lot of extended offshore and channel island trips and so have fitted an auxilary tank of a further 53 litres and also carry between 60 and 80 litres in jerry cans on deck.

Would i be right in saying you replaced the 53L water tank with a fuel tank, cos from what i've seen cant see much more space for another tank.
The fuel figures you added i presume there on a normal load and not with all that extra fuel on board. ever use the outside helm position?

Hi alexk

Is there an outside helm on a 695?

Well its just a tiller and throttle in the cockpit, i think it would be v difficult to see where your going from back there tho,,

Ah, cheers for that, I had looked at a few a while back and wondered, I thought that I had possibly missed something....nice boats.

The loading doesn't seem to make a massive difference on fuel consumption, but make sure she is trimmed OK as that will make a difference.

The reserve tank was fitted in the lazarette directly opposite the main tank. Quite a simple fit (skinned knuckles aside).
Undo exhaust swan neck
Bond reserve tank in place
Fit filler directly opposite main filler on transom (there is even a moulding for it) and fit breather outlet by main breather outlet by rudder stock on transom.

I think you are referring to the trolling valve Alex?
This isn't really an outside helm, more an area where you can steer using the relieving tiller and hold position in the tide etc.
I believe one or two may have been fitted with a full throttle control here, but it was rare. To be fair, I hate trolling valves and whilst I've used them on other models in the range (for demo purposes to customers) I purposely chose not to have one on my boat as they corrode up and are simply one more thing to break.

Volvo D 3

Hi Guys, Please can you help? i have recently decided to leave the world of the flappers:) and join the smokers!! the two boats i had narrowed my search down to are the Antares 680 2011 or the M/F 655. i was on the verge of buying the M /F when i came across a post about the D3 Volvo engine, having looked into this i have uncovered a catalogue of horrors mostly relating to turbo and fuel problems especially on boats that have grown up on inland waterways due to the pottering speeds they are restricted to. Guess where the one i wanted grew up!!!
anyway could anybody give me any kind words of encouragement or should i maybe think of the M F 695 with the bigger engine or stick with the Antares.
Please Help !!!!!!!!
