I have a longstanding starting problem with one of my 4.2 diesel engines. No matter how I clean elect. terminals swop over starter motors etc. etc. I can only start one engine when pressing the LINK switch. I have owned the boat 20 yrs. and for most of that time I have put up with the problem. What is surprising is that the cables from the link box are small in comparison with the start cables or the jump leads used in an attempt to bye pass the starter solenoids. Can any one recommend an a marine ELECTRICIAN near the Hamble river.

Sealine linked engines with HT cables instead of linking each engine direct the Batteries , anything to save a few quid , I’ve had this before you may find it’s the earth cable from the primary engine which I’d guess is the one that starts easily . Also check the positive from primary starter to secondary starter , a simple jump lead may be the answer if it’s on the earth side .
Thought Col Ryan was your man , you also have Brian in Foulkes assuming your still there .

Thank you Paul. I don't understand your comment re HT cables. All my battery link and earth cables and of a large diameter. I will contact Brian in the yard. Friends are always the last to help you with a problem . Dave

He means the electrical cables used.
its likely that the issue is indeed electrically based…but I’d just make sure that it’s not hard to turn over for other reasons…worst of them would be as a result of water ingress to the cylinders. Hopefully not.
