Not a great deal of info on the forum regarding the above engine.

So whats the general view, I am looking at a boat with twin engines circa 1992/3 with +900 hrs.

Any opinions or things to check would be appreciated.

Funnily enough, I was researching these engines fitted to a boat a Year older than the one you're interested in.
Like you, I can find very little information but it appears that they're the virtually obsolete BMW/VM engines. However, happy to be corrected.

Most parts still available from VM and the latest incarnation was on the barrus stand at sibs yesterday
So yes some bits may be nla you can't expect much else from a 20yo engine
Dont like being overheated but apart from that look out for ccorroded intercoolers & general neglect
Look at air cleaners for signs of breathing
Individual heads &wet liners so easy to rebuild
General rebuild bits are quite cheap from VM
