Medway - warning - Thunderbolt Pier

I phoned Thunderbolt a couple of years ago, on the off chance of a berth. I was told OK there is a berth. The harbour master was direct and plain speaking, not one for idle small talk, but helpful enough. I upset him a bit by not having enough cash and having to visit an ATM.
Later, a resident berth holder was surprised that I was allowed to visit, apparently he usually turns boats away.

Yep, I know of people just turning up and asking, and getting a berth.
Whatever then. His loss, right? If I need a quick stop in the day I go the the Sun Pier in Chatham (but wouldn't leave my boat unattended due to the homeless who hang out there), overnight probably just the Chatham guest pontoon.

The dockside is far away from "civilisation" unless you're willing to pay for a cab ride or walk 20-30 minutes to either Chatham or Dockside or Gillingham.

Is anyone here ON the Thunderbolt Pier? (which, btw, reminds me of ACDC"Thunderbolt and Lightning, very very frightening!") Wonder what it's like to be a permament holder. I don't even know if they have electricity and water there. But I doubt it.
