Hi everyone
I would like to hire a boat on the non tidal section of the river Medway for a couple of days has anyone any idea if this would be possible and if so where?

As far as am aware there are no longer any commercial boat companies hiring out motor cruisers on the navigation.Believe it is still possible to hire dingies and stuff at Tonbridge but the last time we where up there, the little booth by the bridge looked abandoned.
You can hire by the day/evening a couple of largish craft operating out of Maidstone but these are more suitable for parties/discos.
Can well remember parents hiring a boat from a company at Tovil, but that was during the 1960s. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
The Thames now is the only source for sort of localish boat hire and suspect the season has finished up there in any case.
The Medway at East Farleigh.

Many thanks
It is a shame there are no hire companies in the area it is such a nice stretch of river I had a small cabin cruiser some years ago at wateringbury and would like a couple of days to explore the river again as im looking into getting another boat in the future
I do want to live aboard full time eventually (not on the Medway) but a small weekender will have to do for now so it looks like I may have to buy a small trailer boat if I want to have a few day trips before I commit to buying something more permanent ?

It was possible to hire a small narrow boat from Tovil Bridge Boat yard up till about 8 years ago so worth checking!

Make Fred (Oldgit) an offer, he's always interested in a little deal.
Here he is after he heard there was a 2% off day at the Maidstone Lidl.

A floating shop what a great idea, every marina should have one, especially if they sell beer and fags,i always seem to run out at the boat, /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Tovil Bridge Boatyard is now underneath a large block of flats,a half built block of flats actually, they dug the foundations about 2 meters away from where they should have been and nobody spotted it until nearly finished.
All construction has stopped while the " not my fault guv" arguments commence. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
