We're currently berthed in Aquadulce on the Spanish coast and thinking about taking a trip along the Moroccan coast. Has anyone been there recently who can give us some advice on which ports to go to or avoid and the general security situation ?

Thanks

Hiya. At the western end, Marina Smir is safe and secure. Moving east, it's possible to stop in any of the fishing ports, but you will need to speak to local police every time. Shouldn't be a problem but facilities limited.

Spanish enclave at Melilla has a good Marina and border crossing to Morocco.

There is another Marina further east towards Algerian border. Friends went there a couple of years ago. Mostly empty, ok for the adventurous. I would try it!

Hi
We were in Med Morocco in March.
Friendly people, lots to see but paperwork is onerous and time consuming. Passports stamped and customs checks in and out of each port
We tried anchoring once and were moved on at dusk by police "for our own safety". Few marinas Smir and Saidia near Algeria and one big port Al Hoceima. A nice town with a huge empty ferry port for you to tie up in. We tried to enter one fishing port El Jebha and were chased away. Our Arabic was pretty basic but their message was clear!
Interesting sights inland from marinas, Tetouan, Chefchaouen and Zegzel gorge near Algeria.
Well worth visiting but yachts are rare and it's a bit of an adventure. Hope you enjoy it!
