I happened to have one of my rare excursions to the South Coast earlier this week, visiting customers on the IOW, and popped down to Port Solent on Tuesday evening and had a fab Chinese at the Dragon Marina restaurant.

However I was struck by how quiet it was for a "summers evening" - for quite read completely dead! There seemed to be almost no boats with anyone on board. Is this normal for a midweek night in the middle of the peak holiday season? It felt like Alcudia in February (and about as warm) and my recollection of Windermere is that there were always plenty of people about in summer.

The Solent was pretty rough yesterday, no-one out, pity as I was looking forward to seeing a few people playing out.

The good news is that the Dragon Marina was excellent :)

Having attempted to encourage everyone to cheer up on another post (and failed to do so judging by the responses), I am aware that this post may open the doors once again to the Private Frazers amongst us ("We're doomed Captain Mainwaring, doomed I tell you").

Tend to agree, and despite numerous finantial hiccups with our first boat this 'SUMMER???????', we must remind ourselves as you said elsewhere, we are bloody lucky to have boats to enjoy at all.

Like myself who gives a toss if your 'Investment' looses 20%, your car that gets you darn Sarf will losse a hell of a lot more, and when the sun shines, the boat is the best place to be!

Well said that man...........'Bloody Cheers Up'

I'm in Fowey for the Regatta. Its not quiet here. Red Arrows at 6 this evening and the River looked like the M25 at rush hour.

Weather is fantastic, Sams was shut but the Chinese was also excellent.

The town is heaving, there are boats raffted 3 or 4 deep on the pontoons, and a little up river from me there are 6 big Mobos on a single (Heavy duty) bouy.

And we have another 5 days at least forecast /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
