I happened to have one of my rare excursions to the South Coast earlier this week, visiting customers on the IOW, and popped down to Port Solent on Tuesday evening and had a fab Chinese at the Dragon Marina restaurant.
However I was struck by how quiet it was for a "summers evening" - for quite read completely dead! There seemed to be almost no boats with anyone on board. Is this normal for a midweek night in the middle of the peak holiday season? It felt like Alcudia in February (and about as warm) and my recollection of Windermere is that there were always plenty of people about in summer.
The Solent was pretty rough yesterday, no-one out, pity as I was looking forward to seeing a few people playing out.
The good news is that the Dragon Marina was excellent
Having attempted to encourage everyone to cheer up on another post (and failed to do so judging by the responses), I am aware that this post may open the doors once again to the Private Frazers amongst us ("We're doomed Captain Mainwaring, doomed I tell you").
