And to think I'd given up on the Round Britain Burgee thingy!

It's very kind of you to go to all that effort just to do the Plymouth - Southampton stint (Clockwise!).

WAIT A MINUTE, Nobody said we were doing round Europe as well,
Although if tcm started, it could leave Gibraltar, land in Southampton then round Britain (clockwise), Back to southampton just in time for tcm to take it back the Med again, then maybe Sun_coast could be involved as well.

That would surely give us more publicity.

EH????

Fancy a bit of uk lovely summer ?

Just returned from Israel and it is warmer here !

If you bring your boat over we are bound to have rain and gales !

You are still very welcome back !

Tom

while in Israel I checked the mooring fees, well facilities where good , some red tape anmd 300 Pounds for my boat for a month.

Flights are 150-300 return , 4.5 hours, cab about .5 hour to marina.

I was there and all looked so plesent !

So I thought lets check Moorings out, it does look ideal but have not checked with insurance yet !

There are israli companies that will do that but I am not sure if I would go with them !

Also there seems to be some certicate that you have to get after 3 monthes to say the boat is sea worthy..

You could recover 1/3 of the shipping price by filling D2 with fuel at Cowes instead of buying that spensive white muck in Cote D'Azur. The rozzers might not like the red dye when you get back to Marseille, though

Doesnae sound right. For our ickle boat, they told us £6k one way. I'm not sure how they charge, but yours is double the lenght and 1.5x width, so 3x the footprint/deckspace. And still one craning operation. So you wd think £15k each way. And it is seasonal I spose, though I dunno what the seasons are.

All these figures are less than the fuel + 1x engine service needed to bring it by sea.

It would fit on a massive lorry also. 25mph at night, pleece escort. The ones that take sunseeker hattan 84s to boat shows in the uk are all of a sudden redundant due to Excel and boats travelling by sea. Though praps they deliver all the new ex-poole Hattans by road, and the princess 23 and 25m, in which case the trucks return empty? Dunno, maybe these sizes go by sea.

Also the Arno boys might know - they use trucks to bring the Leopard hulls from the GRP plant in E Italy to the Arno yard (so they'll even have the right shaped chocks, tee hee). Possible cash in hand job there. Horses head at the ready in case they scratch it.

Remember to be sure you have a VAT paid certificate (ahem )if bringing to UK, in case C&E ask. 17.5% of a big number is a big number

We recently paid £30k to ship a Manhattan 74 to Barcelona although the ship was not fully loaded - guess it's cheaper if the ship's full?

Is it such a good idea?

Will it fit in the lock at PS?

Is anywhere really geared up tp take such a large vessel? Aren't you going to spend the summer anchoring and tendering everywhere?

For £27k you could probably run a T48 for the year and still retain the use of D2?

Wouldn't you also lose out on charter income?

There again if it was in the UK at least we might get an invite!

Eeek! Looks like I was wrong with my back-of-fag-packet maths, and £27-30k is the going rate then. Each way! Yikes. As Petem says, better just to buy anuvver boat for the Solent

Great shame, because I bet there has never been a Leopard or Mangusta in the Solent. (I'm assuming the forumite mangusta who was bringing her Gusta to Southampton was a spoof.....)

Cheeky monkey...just because you weren't invited. We are trying to arrange a return visit, the members of the Big Brother household on board for a week-end.

Anyway, tell all about the 'Gusta visit to Southampton. Any pics of the Italian baby tied up at Ocean Village? Real ones, not photoshop, :)

Re: mangusta visits MBC by coincidence!

We are now back at our desks, and busy working out the winter schedule. I wasn't aware that weekly postings were mandatory, so please draw your own conclusions. the only person to get excited about anything we do is you JFM (you might explain what these initials really mean before we draw our own conclusions).

If you want to see glimpses of the Bi Beauty in UK waters (not S/hampton) then you will have to watch some of the vids/dvds'. Not wanting to let you down, but they are all straight, mild and in German/French!

Being new to boating we have enjoyed the boat but feel something smaller would suit the business better. So we are in the process of buying aquiring a Fairline Squadron or similar for wintering in the eastern med - Bi Beauty will be heading back to the states as part of the lease deal. If you are visiting the show at Southampton we could arrange to meet (presume you are single).

Re: L23 to solent

Well, I am looking for passge plan site, and emma is dead keen to make the trip which otherwise wd be a bit rubbishy cos no decent food.

Yes, PS is good for 100 foot. There are zillions of places to go. Even looe harbour at high tide, the HM got his hat on and that was just for the targa. In the solent there is lymington altho it is a bit ferro-concrete/converted batteshipish:)

Yes, the gusta must be a spoof. Not me tho. I would not have a gusta cos of the shitey side pod things make side-to berthing imposs, and also would not be able to hack the app. mandatory tosspot skipper. Also not times given of gusta arrival, and now suddenly going back.

Anyway i now have to return to boat and continue boaty fixing with nice insulation AND i have discovered how to get the ceiling down which has little bits of ply to hook/slide it 5mm sideways behind celing frame and then a tiny screw hidden behind the lowvoltage lights, so imposs to fall down. Also emma mates turned up to clean the boat. Good eh?

Re: Is it such a good idea?

twil be fine, and they will all fall over themsleves to find a space. PS fine to 100 foot plus, lymington, er yarmth, lots of places. Also will make a few quid from subletting med berth. Also i am one of v exclsuive club who are very enthusiatic about F'lines (but still got rid of own). I also heard a rumour that Sunseekers don't even have a builtin hoover or proper Miele dishwasher, so will have to bring L23.
