Apropos nothing at all really, except perhaps some of the reports of bad UK summer weather, I thought I'd post a few Med boat pics, all taken v recently. If you don’t like pic posts or med pics, look away know. If your name's Alastair, tune in now. There are lots of stills below, then at the end there's a little vid I stuck together on the plane a couple of days ago. Hope you enjoy, but as I say this is a pointless post apropos nothing at all really :-)

1. Here is Magnum arriving in Antibes for first time a few weeks ago, being driven by sunseeker bods
Picture018.jpg

2. TCM anchored, before his big sail westwards, couple of weeks ago
Picture174.jpg

3. Nice dutch yacht anchored in Salis, Antibes in background, last week
Picture003.jpg

4. Observer junior+ senior borrowing my tender, 2 wks ago, in villefranche
Picture177.jpg

5. Observer junior in my other tender. I really recommend these things, googlable, called a Sevylor Colorado. Bags of fun for about £290
IMG_1327.jpg

6+7. Some boats photoe-d near monaco last weekend. First, a slightly fat looking sportscruiser. Nor sure what it is
Picture573.jpg

Picture570.jpg

8. Still on the subject of fat, a new hatteras that really is a bit obese looking
Picture568.jpg

9. Lovely Palmer Johnson. Actually I don’t find this as pretty as when first launched. Not really timeless styling is it?
Picture569.jpg

10. Azimut, nice lines
Picture567.jpg

11. Back to fat - a conam widebody or whatever they're called. Not my cuppa tea. Pic off Cap D'Ail
Picture547.jpg

12+13. Gorgeous pred 82 in Magnum colours, off Cap ferrat just under Sir Norman Foster's house (1st pic) and Nice (2nd pic) last Sunday
Picture545.jpg

Picture541.jpg

14 Lovely villefranche from some distance off. Stunning mountains at the back of these anchorages
Picture537.jpg

15 Sunny Antibes
Picture533.jpg

16 + 17 Fabulous skies, last weekend, in Antibes. No cheats/red filters used here. Railings at bottom of second pic are houghn's princess 57
Picture458.jpg

Picture418.jpg

18 Running back to Antibes from the east, last Saturday evening (land is Cap D Antibes east side, lighthouse is visible on small hill in middle of Cap)
Picture468.jpg

19. Lerins Islands, Cannes, last weekend, gorgeous San Lorenzo to left, which I'm saving up for :-)
Picture483.jpg

20 Little Wallypower flying along
Picture472.jpg

21. Dunno - Burgundy Ben can you identify please?!
Picture394.jpg

22. For PaulineB. How dare they? The cheek of it. Cream boat in background, right, is Kingdom 5KR (I think. Alan, are you there... can you confirm? :-) )
Picture311.jpg

23+24 Fireworks, Cannes, last Friday. Big boat to left of first pic is Kingdom 5KR anchored in E wind, minding her own business in a tight spot. Then 2/3 through the firework show the wind shifted to southerly (second pic, taken from same place as first pic) and she swung round slowly bumping into a whole stack of small boats anchored just north of her. Was quite chaotic!
Picture317.jpg

Picture339.jpg

25. "My" berth in Beaulieu. I have invested much in tips and charm offensive to get a regular berth this close to African Queen restaurant. Chris B175 whaddya reckon man? :-)
Picture171.jpg

26 Nice view Monaco from east, Monday this week
Picture551.jpg

27. Red Azimut entering port of monaco, bit of a daft name huh? Superyacht behind is Vagabondo Again or whatever it's called, which hardly ever moves from Golfe Juan but was in action last weekend
Picture555.jpg

28 Very nice Selene, but trudging along and burning a bit too much diesel, hmmm... This one has the customisation that other med Selenes have, whereby the tender is davited and the upper aft deck where the tender normally goes has been made into a big lounging area. I think it's a 66 but not 100% sure (?)
Picture548.jpg

29 Me anchored off St Jean Cap Ferrat with son + his school mates last weekend, about 38 of them iirc, on board
Picture382.jpg

30. I don’t get the styling on these small preds. They're as tall and dumpy as the same size hattan flybridges, so why not just get a flybridge? Predator sleek styling works on say a 72, but not something this size? All that height and dumpiness is of course becuase the market insists on central full beam owner cabins these days. What do you think?
Picture552.jpg

31 Video. Sorry bout music, I don’t have much music on this PC

Oooo thanks jfm, I really enjoyed that. Two weeks before we are back out to the boat so that will "put me on" nicely

Picture171.jpg

Me thinks you have taken a "friend" of mine berth when he move to Monaco!

African Queen is a good night out but my is it expensive! mind you the walk back to the boat will have some compensation............ it's short.:)

Hope you enjoy the spot I know I did for the weekend I was there!

Great pictures, I particularly enjoyed the Islands off Nice and the girls selling icecream from their little tender. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Tom

Thanks for cheering up us UK based types! See, the sky can be blue! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Please don't hesitate to make more posts like this.

Number 21 is a Sonny Levi designed Speranzella Series II, probably "Fujiyama"

Closely related to "A Speranzella" his 63' Cowes - Torquay winner.

Very nice report, thanks for posting!
A few comments:
Pic 4 reminded me of the debate re. speed of your new toy vs.Hurricane outboard. No news yet, or did I miss some post?
6+7: Sagittarius Dart 436. Presented 10 years ago or so as a breakthrough innovation, in practice just one of the many flops in this industry. Bl00dy ugly it was, and still is - RIP.
8: Yuk! Did anyone at Hat overlap two boats on their drawing board to give birth to that?
28: yes, nice she is. You may wish to consider her as a better platform for shooting videos either, considering how shaky your clips are... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
30: agreed. Imho, Pershing did a much better yob than Sunseeker in this respect, in their small(ish) range.

Never mind apologising for posting - posts like this are just the tonic for us Brits with our crap weather!

Unfortunately (and maybe its just me) I haven't had the use from CI this year or last due to weather and the kids being grown up and going to Uni and therefore they don't want to go boating anymore /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

So reluctantly, I am putting CI up for sale in network yacht brokers with a view to hauling her out mid Sept at the NYB yard in Pwllheli.

So...keep 'em coming coming while I decide what to do next in boating??

You know I reckon that PJ might just stand the test of time, its a great deal better looking than some.

PJ are opening an operation in Southampton, the old Vosper Thorneycroft shipyard, should be good for the area.

Fujiyama

Oooh thanks Scarron, great info. Her transom was covered so couldn't read the name, but all the details match Fujiyama, even the fenders! The photo was taken on the e side of Cap Ferrat and the Levi was just leaving St Jean cap Ferrat marina, heading out into a F7 westerly which was throwing up some fun seas once out of the lee of the Cap. Maybe they were taking her for a blast! Last weekend

jfm, you have done it again - super stuff.

Fab pix.

Couple of points

1. Has Magnum sunk (or taken his boat to DBX - has he passed Aden yet?)

2. The pred/hatten 52's etc I agree are top heavy looking, but i guess its a neat idea to have the same hulls and below deck layout and just add a F/B or sports boat top bit.

Thanks for taking the time/trouble posting this lot.

4. It deserves another longer post sometime when it's all sorted out but my speed trials on the jetrib need to be postponed. It's in bad shape (engine out job) but Avon are behaving perfectly re warranty etc. More reportage later. I wish I'd bought an outboard tender though! I KNOW every one advised me to, doh, stupid me :-)

8. Yup. To quote Jeremy Clarkson (on the Fiat Multipla), the top and bottom halves were designed by two different people who have never actually met each other.

28. Yep, but some of the vids were heavily zoomed in and even the slightest movement on my boat makes the picture jerky. Sea was flat but lots of wakes to cross. Hey, I'm not choosing my next boat based on its performance as a camera platform, ok? :-)

Hope not. I'm joining him on his aft deck for a beer on Magnum this evening, 10pm sharp! Just gotta get thru this day in the oriface (in London) first :-)

He's been off the forum becuase on the boat loads, then for the last 2 weeks he's been doing a motorbike tour of Switzerland or something. I'll tell him to log in and post latest exploits. He's on the boat now for the next 2 or 3 weeks solid i think

Cracking pics J....
