Yep - bbc news are reporting that france will only allow brits in if they have an essential reason for travel - tourism & visiting second homes is not an essential reason - apparently.

It’s like anything else, odds are you will be fine but yesterday I was boarded, and while they were very nice, they took photos of our documents. We are French flagged so covid wouldn’t have been an issue, but if we weren’t who knows

Irrespective of any Covid travel regulations, post Brexit rules would have required him to check into customs control in a designated port. Was he made to do it? If not, that has positive ramifications for UK based boaters

Anyone in France will be fine, i was there during the whole of the lockdown last year & everyone was helpful.
Did consider driving on Sunday but with the curfew at 2100 & inevitable delays at the border i would have to leave tomorrow & use a hotel, don't fancy that.
Plus i need to upgrade my travel insurance to cover Amber countries, which is possible, but will take 2-3 days.
Gut feeling says just relax & take it as it comes.

We are in Greece right now, bit of r&r before we head to Spain mid June to clean the boat! I hope Spain doesn't bring restrictions back like France and Germany ??

As far as I'm aware -no.
Also another friend arrived back from Portugal and sailed back with another uk boat.
The other boat arrived in Plymouth and rang yacht line. They got interviewed under caution and may be looking at a fine, my friends boat arrived in portsmouth and all he has to do is quarantine on board for 10 days and do a few covid tests.
He has to come ashore to post the results and is also allowed ashore to shop!

I asked my friend for more information. It seems the yacht that went to Plymouth didn't do anything before arrival whereas the portsmouth yacht did the requested pre arrival tests.

I'm UK flagged, based in Beaulieu, and have been boarded for document checks twice already this year. Both times, they were more thorough than usual and spent 20mins checking registration, licences, VAT-paid docs, etc. for the boat. They wanted to see proof of Monaco/EU residence or passports with date of entry stamps for everyone on board. They took photos of the boat and documents both times, which is a new development.

Not really quite a few Brits will be ensconced in there U.K. 2 nd homes ( inc boats + caravans , yurts , trad motorhomes ) this W/E ,
This threads about getting to the Med boats , navigating Covid restrictions as they pop up in 2021 .
I know a lot of Londoners who happen to have 2 nd homes , either inherited , so not what you think , it’s mum + dads or granny’s old house .Those that have had the wherewithal to buy an other bricks n mortar property which doubles up as a 2 nd home hardly lack “ common sense and reality “ .Where exactly do you put your money ?
A balanced portfolio inc U.K. property surly @ 10-14 % gain thus far this year compared to zilch in a bank ?
If it’s in a popular seaside or where ever spot, via an agent also generates a return to offset the running costs .
Uber popular spot eg typical S coast hot spot a even better generous return possibly a taxable income to boot .
As far as I think you suspected link to the virus , the majority of the 2K to 4 K uplift in numbers are the un vaxed and none white in the U.K.
Indeed only a handful of double vaxed 950 ( May 24 th data ) hospitalised in the U.K. are un vaxed , mostly none white .Inc a 101 y old Indian lady who refuses the vaccine for the well documented silly reasons .
Those few 2x vaxed are medically compromised anyhow .We are talking 5/8 pax out of 950 .
Travelling within the U.K. if you are vaxed fully to your holiday home is safe this W/E *

Simply put - British tourist is largely irrelevant to France. Macron needs to look tough and has an election. Crapping on the Brits makes good sense and of course we love to wallow in our misery reporting worse news. Surge testing means more cases. Why don’t we focus on positive cases versus number of tests to see a true trend everywhere. Except this doesn’t fit the narrative of state control. In Spain etc the British tourist matters. So unless things go off the rails here I suspect
looks like poor old France having a double dip recession. Emmy should have waited a few days before he banned Brits. Seems he may actually need us after all poor fellow.
