Meaco DD8L Junior -"leak"

While running my Meaco dehumidifier I get a small puddle at the base. The bucket is not cracked, it is not full and is seated properly in the machine. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what is the possible cause and the cure?

Sorry if this is covered in the other thread but it is so long and supposed to be about a different problem that I haven't read it.

The larger version has a plug which is used to lead the condensate to a drain. Does the Junior version have one which may be badly seated or missing ?

Thank you sarabande, with the junior you push the pipe over the spigot that drains into the bucket so no plug needed.

I had this. Hidden in the Meaco instructions is to make a small hole in the top of the flexible drain hose. This seems to fix it. The other thing to do is make sure the Meaco is level - many boats ashore are deliberately chocked up slightly bow up.

Thanks jwilson. I am not using the hose just the bucket. It could be the level as I don't always land in the mud quite the same each tide, depending on which direction the wind comes from and how strong it is. It could be the weather as the boat does rock about a bit. I stood it on an old newspaper last night to catch it but nothing today, almost no wind.

Another possible cause is a dirty and hence partially blocked filter - remove and properly clean preferably with a vacuum cleaner and soft brush whilst you've got the hoover going. This caused my Ecoair to produce puddles and cleaning the filter stopped it completely...

Thanks V1701, I will try that. Sorry for the late reply I did my back at Christmas and have been laid up a bit.

I’d say it’s almost certainly it not being level and the water running off the lid of the tank rather than down the drain hole. I placed mine on a folded mat but didn’t notice it wasn’t level and regularly found water underneath it. Making sure it was on a level surface will cure it.
You may find that if it’s done it for long enough water gets into a void in the base which will then slowly escape. It’s only a few screws to take it off and then you can just wipe inside to completely dry it out.

Thanks, I think you are right, it is the level when we dry out with a list, also could be when the wind gets up and rocks the boat about on the mooring causing it to miss the hole and spill over.

I'd second the suggestions that it needs to be level as the little area that the water drips into in the top tray of the collection reservoir is very shallow.

I’ve had the Maeco for years and I’m pretty sure you don’t need a spirit level unless the boat or the Maeco is grossly far over.
