My Meaco dehumidifier is 3 years old. It is plugged in to drain into the galley sink whilst afloat. Runs fine in warmer temps (>3 deg C) but cuts out if the temperature gets to about 2-3 deg C. This I understand is how it's meant to work, but it does not resume working when the temperature goes up again above 3-4 deg C without unplugging and switching on again. Is this normal or do I send it back and risk damage in the courier system? Is there a DIY fix to a component or tip to keep it running.
I'm probably answering my own question but it looks like I am going to have to run a heater as well.

I use mine with a tube heater in the boat, which keeps the interior and water/engine systems above freezing. The dehumidifier shuts down (when the desired humidity is reached) and restarts if and when needed. I can't tell if it has ever tripped out from low temperature but is always on, usually in standby, when I arrive.

Meaco advise not running below 1 degree and imply it will go to standby as the humidity will decrease as temperature drops. You might need a more noticeable increase in temperature and humidity to trigger a restart? I assume no fault lights are lit?

I had something similar with mine and it showed a C3 error code. I spoke to Maeco who said it was by design, but mine does turn back on again when it warms up. Mine is the Zambezi version with a timer, so perhaps that allows it to turn back on. I found their support people quite helpful.

I added a tube heater.

I have not had the issue you describe with my DD8L
But maybe you are expecting too much in cold conditions.

Mine does this and also does not restart. We use a heater to keep the temperature around the heater inside its operating window. A temperature sensitive timer takes care of turning the oil filled heater on and off. Added bonus is that the boat is only cold and not freezing when we turn up for the weekend.
