Went dinghy sailing..... made it 100yds off the shore, and the trapeze rack snapped... dropping me unceremoniously in the water......

So... spent 3 hours travelling, rigging, derigging changing and unchanging for.... 45 seconds of sailing and a brief swim.....

Boaty mainly.
Fat Blokes Breakfast, inc Fried Bread.
Went to Rice & Cole to see the poor people working on their pride and joys.
Went to Mailspeed to collect new liferaft, lifeslings etc
Went to Burnham Yacht HArbour, to be greeted by beaming Clarke & Carter man, Mr Scott, who informs me boat will be here in 2 weeks, and can I get it in the water pronto after?
Went to Bridgemarsh to unload all items not being sold on Second Chance, into car
Sold outboard and several boaty and car bits on E Bay, all except one exceeding my expectations.
Wrestled with packaging an outboard, cos the bloke asked me to courier it.Phew!
Collected pushbike back from No1 Son, who must be corrosive, as the bike is covered in iron and aluminium oxide now.
Fiddled about with new chandlery covering front room carpet (fairly comprehensively).
Soon to eat Roast Pork lunch with plate size Yorkshires.
Later will be E Bay posting the Fray Bentos Steak and Mushroom pie hoiked out of the 2004 galley stores on Second Chance, and will donate the proceeds to RNLI.
Also going to bed early, as 0440 in the morning, heading towards Stansted for the weeks commercial endeavours.

Me thinks that as my boat is still wrapped up for the winter I would help my wife with bird watch (RSPB) for one this morning, I then worked in the garden and creosoted a fence and gate. I went to the gym for 2 hours and came home to cut the lamb joint. Ate an excellent Sunday lunch with wife and Daughter (Son is at Uni) and have spent the early evening on the web looking at camcorders as SWMBO wants one for her birthday next week.
We are going out tonight to see her brother who is a musician and is playing locally for a change.
All in all me thinks it's been a great day!

Regards.

If you include a church called "The Chandos" I'm in between 1 & 2. Up at 8am busy doing nothing until opening time. Couple of pints with "The Chief", usual litany of broken ships and inadequate maintenance budgets. Home for roast beef and trimmings. Then alternate between cricket, rain and footie on TV.

Torn calf muscles from skiing trip allow this laziness to be guilt free.

Ok here goes:

Lazy morning - up at 0900 got wife breakfast in bed (yes alright I know I'm a smug g*t I know...)

Off to church - Chaplain of the Fleet doing dedication Commodore and old boss there. etc etc make polite conversation... then escape

Home and a quick snack

All that excitement made wife and me lie down and have a quick zzzz.

Quick whizz across the moor in the sports car roof off to get some printer ink from the computer store. Decided computer bits are nearly as expensive as boat bits.

Clear out garage a bit - enough to get one of the cars back in at least!

Cook Sunday roast. Still feels strange not to have children here to eat it with us.

Wife now sleeping again - not feeling well for a while now and I'm trying to get her to take a day off work but no joy.

Prep for work tomorrow - old clothes packed to go and work on the boat as soon as I can escape from the office....

On the boat. Plan - put sails on & go for a gentle potter.

0800 Reveille. No heat in boat, so far too cold to get up
0900 Nature's call becomes too insistant to ignore, so put kettle on & obey.
0905 Back in warm sleeping bag with good book & coffee
1000 A bit warmer - or maybe just hungrier so eggs, toast, beans & sausages
1100 Decide it's time to deal with the autohandwash when pumping heads. It can't be much - it only needs a new seal for the top of the pump. Remove pump.
1200 Return from swindlery with new heads. Pump spares not available. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif New heads chosen to be the same mounting as old heads.
1205 Discover design is similar, but not identical. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
1700 heads finally installed & working. Dry out heads compartment. Tide now dropping fast.
1715 Leave club pontoon for mooring
1745 Return to club pontoon in dinghy. Place where boat was is now almost dry, so darned glad I got away when I did!
1800 Leave for home
2100 Earful from SWMBO about spending all that money.

Try again next week if the weather's any good!

Started the morning drinking coffee on the boat looking at the locker where I'm going to install a calorifier. The locker is big enough, but the access to it isn't - started taking boat apart. Stopped. Put boat back together again. Drink Coffee.

Now the ground has dried, take rolled up headsail off pontoon to dry area large enough for me to flake sail properly on my own. Do this and hoist old head sail on furling gear - just in case the wind picks up.

Still no wind - the sea was glassy calm at 9am. Now its 11am, thought of getting out to drift about on cold overcast day now reenfoced basic decision not to try going sailing.

Walked round to a friends boat with my multi-meter. Drank more coffee and successfully broke my own multi-meter before having checked out problem which was why I walked round to the other side of the harbour. Pants, now have to find new meter.

Walk over to the club - driving later, so order crisps and OJ&L - chat for 45 minutes with friends. Decide that the day in going ok, albeit quietly.

Finally go home, where it become obvious that unless I go shopping I shall be living off takeaways all week. Go shopping. Get home. How much did I spend? I deliberately picked a small trolley to limit shopping capacity. Failed.

Cook dinner for the family and finally finish the day by watching the Green Mile.

And now its monday /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Regards, Jeff.

Al lovely couple of hours wet and drying the old anti-fouling in preparation for this years coating.

At least it was pleasantly sunny and warm (honest...) whilst the water ran up my arm.
