Re: enough crawling...

Re nominations worst value for money, Whitby marina, went in once, never returned, to call the toilet/shower block a shit pit would be polite and I make no appologies for the wording, Mike.

Could it be the recession?

I struggle to think of a marina on the South Coast that still has ill-mannered, bad tempered staff like in the old days. Campers, despite their major expansion is incredibly helpful, (shame the same can't be said about the yard!). All we need now is for the recession to leave a empty berths and then market forces can apply.
Dream on I expect!

Market forces...

do work. in Preston, well known hub of yachting, we were charged £7 a night (40ft cat) a couple of years ago. the facilities were good and the berths half empty.

Yes, they are still about...

...really poor service can still be found, in out-the-way places.

To remind yourself how bad it can be, try Island Harbour up the Medina beyond the Folly. Dreadful.

Anyway enough praise about MDL. I'll vote for Campers - great knowledgable staff, clean facilities, cheapest eatery around, and only a 2% rise in fees this year.

Can't resist this one........

Been with MDL firstly at Bray and laterly at Hythe and without sounding like I have been sniffing the diesel again Joanne and I have always received a helpful and friendly service from MLD folk.

What also impresses me is the general approachability and the feeling that they do actually value my business............I appreciate that as it seems rather rare today in business generally.

One reason why we have stuck with MDL is the attitude and ability of the staff so whilst I am always happy to complain about poor service it pleases me very much to go public regarding the good.

Too many small but positive incidents to mention here but they have varied from a dockmaster coming out of his warm office on a foul wet and cold day to help take our ropes as we entered our mooring to the determination to find us the most suitable berth for our needs. I expect the big things to be done properly but it has often been the smaller gestures that have particularly impressed.

Hope I don't sound too creepy but this seems a good opportunity to comment.

Thank you

Nick
