The last time I visited mdl we tried the WiFi and gave up and used 4g on the phones instead. WiFi in marinas does seem to be a problem and not worth bothering with for a few nights.
Our berth is 30ft from a pole with a grey box on... which I have always assumed is the wifi booster? But as such always get good signal and fast performance... And something I was unreasonably pleased with this year was at long last my iPhone remembers username and password!
installed a wifi hub on board before lockdown in March so we could work from boat. (and we are still here)...Marina wifi would never have worked as well, performance is sketchy usually. Enables Now TV and Netflix also so very happy.
The best marina wi fi I’ve come across is Port Solent but that’s in the week when it’s less required , I’d imagine the bandwidth is crap at a weekend .
I have never once found a marina wifi to work over and above loading a text page - and even then I would say that is 10% of the time. I am unsure why they bother.
Well if u asked year I'd say different but this year has been vg. Based at Cobbs Quay and use Android phone.
They made some changes this season and the log on now and staying logged on is so much better id say vg/ excellent. I also stay logged on inside the boat downstairs. It appears I have to re logon after 24 hrs rather than previously whenever out of range.
However the rest of family appear to have less good experience with iPhones. I have always said Android was better and less controlling ?
Also when visiting other MDL Inc OV login was fine.
The helpline was superb and rang me within 10 mins of email. This was May when we could first go to marina. I then learned of the new login details and password changes; need subscriber tab rather than previous voucher tab.
So for me big improvements so well done MDL.
Ps. I don't stream films mind
