Well. No. Of course we are very priviliged and humbled. On the other hand half of us on here are MD's But on the other hand that dont matter. It's about boats, so of course every body who has an interest should join in. I am sure Mr Watson will have thought seriously before coming here, and weighed up whether he could stand the flack. He seems to be doing quite well for a novice!! Oh and by the way it's<font color=red> CHRISTMAS

You're right, I did think long and hard before joining in on the various sites as once you start, you can't really stop ('got too hot, did it?', 'chicken' and all that).....

The main benefit I have had is that many contributors now send me private emails or meet up with me face to face to exchange views which I welcome in my goal to make MDL one of the most respected businesses in the UK. When I achieve that, which I will, I'll be a happy man as we'll have ; Motivated staff, Delighted customers and a position Leading the industry = MDL.

Dear john.
There is no reason to jump on high horse. Cant remember what I said that would cause the problem. I think you are very brave for coming here and if I could spell it I would Aploud Your reasons for being here. I am a trusted sole and as such. We are honoured by your presence. Unfortunatly at the moment I am not privalaged to be an MDL berth holder. I do look forward to it as at least You are or appear to be accountable. John I really love you. We all rib each other here, dont take offence. We are very thankfull that you take the time to come here and discuss. Not in my Marina tho. We have asked and no doubt shall do again. Merry Christmas John.
Ps I hope I have not been to hard on you in the whatsit creak saga!!

John.
What a brilliant idea. I would love to pay only for the services I use, eg car park, water and electric. You can tow away the fuel, pump-out, washing machines and so on, that should bring the bill down a bit.
Thanks for joining in the electric debate. Just another hurdle to volt over, don't know watt we would do without you. Hope you get a nice Xmas ampere when you get ohm!

Best wishes for Xmas, and a happy New Year.

Teddy

PS Will you be at the Boat Show (to talk to)?

Haydn - my shoulders are broad and I can take a wind-up any time....
This industry/hobby/pasttime/whatever is supposed to be FUN and my company has not helped make it so in some ways in the past. We are really trying to change this, but, in the meantime, I must pay for the sins (not so big ones really) of my fathers....c'est la vie.
Happy Christmas,
John

Hi John, Sorry I'm a bit late coming into the debate re your pricing for next season. I noticed a lot of the interest was around the electricty. However what I'd like to know is how you justify and increase in my berthing charges that will increase my bill by over £800 since April 2002??? In the last year I have noticed a great deal of cost cut backs in your company ie information brochures events etc and can only assume that the quest for increased profits is still very much a company priority.
I notice in all the correspondence that you have still not tried to come up with a sensible justification for a further 5.9% increase on top fo last years 6%. Are you really sure you what to empty your marinas? Because for sure increases like this will eventually come home to roost. As you say this should be fun shame your company puts such a dampner on it.

Mercury B8 berth. In the last two years my berthing fees have increased over £800 and ofcourse as I have to pay in advance the true fee is plus interest. My main problem is that although Mercury is a well run marina, I have not seen anything that would be classed as a value for money increase that is anywhere near the increase in fees. Your Manager there would have sent you my orginal email to her raising my concerns at such an increase.

Odd. Debbie told me about only one complaint on price increase that she had squared away with the customer when the facts of our costs (insurance, dredging, maintenance etc) relevant to Mercury were explained.
I will check Monday and revert.
