MDL Marine - Torquay - Newbie looking for help/advice.

Hi Andy,

Apologies to o/p for thread drift.

Yes, some reliability has helped in our adventures (plus some committed determination) plus the weather has been better too. I somehow volunteered myself for some marshal/safety boat duty for the powerboat racers and not having the family, headed out in conditions I wouldn't have otherwise have done (F5/F6). More importantly, holding position with wind and tide in different directions in a 'snotty' sea (term I hadn't heard before). This actually served as a pivotal moment for me in terms of experience and confidence and meant that the 2-3M swells off of Plymouth a few weeks back didn't deter me and we had a great day!

There's an article on the Rally to follow as Nick spent the day with the rally on the run to Dartmouth and did the used Fletcher work.

A bit slow on the project, but will update soon - bought yet another bargain boat in February and thus have been a bit preoccupied  Would love to catch up again when you are down.

Best regards,

Robin

That's good going Robin, I've just read the Fletcher article in MBM, very good.
Hows the 'Project' progress, not seen an update for a while although with this weather you would be forgiven for leaving well alone and enjoying some time on the water.

We should be down Thursday evening all being well (although quite late) so would be around Friday AM until my throttle arm gets the it'ch of course.
that's if I can sort out the grandparents in time (hospital), here's hoping.

That said if we make it were there for 10 days all in so will be around all next week, that's if we don't head west, which probably won't happen just in case I have to get back home short notice.

Good shout for a beer, let us know where and when.

Cheers
Andy & Amanda

I'll be launching tomorrow hopefully around 6:30, so depending how keen the Harbour Master is for me to move the car and trailer, I'll try and pop in to say hello.

So how did it go? All safe & sound on berth? :)

We didn't get down until 7:40 and did have a look around for you, but apart from a Regal that had been recovered and a Bayliner being pressure washed on the the slipway by D2 post recovery, nobody launching. We did meet Andy & Amanda for a quick catch up.

All went surprisingly well thankyou. No problems to embarrass us in front of the watching crowds! It was fairly busy so we were pushed to get the trailer away a.s.a.p. and were gone by 7:20.

Been over to Brixham this afternoon for a gentle 'see how she goes' trip, then a celebration at the Offshore Bar.

Looking to get out again tomorrow morning probably the opposite direction towards Teignmouth.

So far, so good!!!
