As part of our new series of features, 'Talking Heads', Motor Boats Monthly will shortly be interviewing John Watson, the new head of inland and coastal marina operators MDL. Does anyone have any questions they would like us to put to him?

I have a question about Ocean Village.

What are the plans for it. When will they be complete. Why has it been left in such a state for so long.

I used to spend many a night there having fun in the bars. But since MDL obtained Canutes Pavilion and shut it down the marin is like a ghost town now.

What was wrong with it in the first place and are they just building more flats so that they can make every foot of space make them even more money..

If i do not have my facts right here please let me know.

Could you ask him why the mooring fees cover the length of the boat and not the length of the pontoon finger. I know that most marinas do this, but while you've got him there it would be nice to hear his reasoning. When we used to moor in an MDL marina, the pontoon finger was so short we had to moor stern-to or else we couldn't get on/off the boat. You can also ask him why MDL are such greedy b*****ds.

Ask him how their raving nutcase computer project is going, if at all. The one where everyone was going to get a credit card so they could conveniently pay vast sums to any mdl marina thru a personal smart card aceptable in any mdl marina. So much more convenient than money, eh?

To save the e-mauling you will probably get over this, why not cut the cr*p and just offer to stab him on behalf of forum users?

I've a feeling this thread could rival the DF Light for postings!

BTW, how come DF Light never won "Message of the Month"? Surely the message that promotes the most interest/response must be the winner? Had me logging on all afternoon!

Don't want Kate getting nicked for murder. Just ask him to do the noble thing and fall on the sword or better still jump off his wallet, there's more chance of fatality with that option :)

I too have spent many a good night in the bars of Ocean Village, looking out at the marina on a glorious summers evening, imagining I was in the south of France. Now look at the place, looking decidedly run down and shabby.
I suspect a bit of a ploy, run the place down and make it a blot on the landscape this giving a bit more leverage when it comes to planning permission for new apartments, hence more money into MDL's coffers?

wouldn't have mattered. DFL was me and BarryD, and I've already offered him the VHF, but he just bought one, hence the RNLI auction...

I know, I just think the DF Light debacle should be recognised and honoured for the amount of traffic and postings it created. Certainly made me smile!

Re: Matter of Principle

Ooh no it matters a lot that the award was for this and not that. Don't suppose boxing people would be very pleased at the idea of being awarded world championship on account of having the shiniest shorts wouold they? Likewise, I would be mortally wounded if boatmags gave out whiskey to readers with most massive drink problem, altho not too much since I wd get it all. However I wd then do more useful postings

eg do you realise that if you add whiskey to ice cubes they make you 100% more sloshed than odrinary ice cubes? I strongly recommend it for increasing the power of your boat, at least it feels like it, and huge mileage achieved on account of not feeling like goiong very far the next morning.

From what I heard was that they are going the knock the lot down and rebuild with shops on the ground floor and surprise, surprise, loads of flats on top. It used to be a fun place, but when I was there in the summer, it was pretty dead except for 1 bar :-( my mates were not impresed as they were offered lots of wine, women and pulling opportunities!!!!
