MD2030 Heat exchanger Neck

Last edited:
Many thanks and I'm working through the links.

Anyone know of where I could get a replacement Neck unit for my Heat Exchanger?
(What the cap screws onto)
Parts4engines only have the one for a MD2040 and they believe it's the wrong size.
Thanks.
My spanish mate had an issue, the brass neck reacts with the aluminium housing and it comes loose. He took th e HEto a rad repairer in Faro. Modern cars have alu and plastic rads. It is possible to buy rad necks and cap with an ally tube. He carefully removed the brass bit, cleaned the HE hole up, procured a square piece of ally, cut a hole and they welded the neck to it then they welded that over the HE hole. Was one of the neatest repairs I have seen, all done in a morning at the rad shop

Thank you all for the advice and suggestions.
Here's what i'm going to be trying:
1-I could buy the kit from parts4engine, and although they don't believe the neck from the 2040 will fit my HE, I'll give it a go.
Here's the link to their kit: Volvo Penta MD2040 heat exchanger repair kit
2-I'm sourcing a radiator repair company, here in Corfu to see what they can do.
3-As a final resort, I'll give the neck that has the 2 holes, to connect to the HE, a go.

I'm keen to repair this HE (to keep as a spare) as their second hand prices are astronomical, but, a new bare unit is 1500 euros out here.

Be aware that the MD2030 HE is an aluminium casting.
