I also signed up at the LBS on 4th Jan for MBM, and bought the Feb edition at same time. I received the March edition on 22nd Feb, and was beginning to wonder if it was ever going to arrive.
I wonder when I will get the April edition?

It looks like the subscribtions dept still have not got their act together!
I had the the same problem 3 years ago with MBM & MBY with monthly assurances that the service would improve.
I now order them through my local newsagents and enjoy reading them every month instead of wondering what i missed.

These stories are why I have not yet taken a subscription. I always get it at newsagents. April edition in Newsagents today. Detailed article on Menton, no mention of macdonalds, was it edited tcm? Also promise of test in Mangusta 108 next month, with full side pods Claymore. Long article on LPG conversion too.

Sorry...Mangusta 108 test fell out of bed so we tested a Leopard 27m Open instead (the one that's like the 23m, but much bigger ;o) May get some pics up on mby.com before too long.

Sub standards

To clarify subscription copies are timed to arrive on the actual on sale date, no earlier. They may occasionally arrive earlier if you live in an efficient postcode area vis a vis post service; they can be a bit later in less efficient areas. We could engineer an earlier arrival (as was possible when it took seven days from printer to newsagent a few years back, unlike the much more efficient times now) but you'd simply get older content, more dated brokerage ads etc.

Sub benefits: you save cash, you don't have to think about visiting anyone to pick up your issue, you can order online and despite a few cock-ups the vast majority who order happily receive their copies okay, otherwise we'd be in a complete spin. We're also more than willing to take up anyone's case now if something does go wrong.

The flip side, well we also need newsagent sales and so if you buy that way, either ad hoc or by reserving a copy, then that's fine too. We'll even report availability problems to the distributors if you let us have them.

Re: Blood on the road

Nope, Leopard 27m survived my best efforts to ding it.

But as you rightly surmise, this ace tester was indeed carted off to hospital in an ambulance yesterday having come a distant second in a contest between a VTR100 and a Ford Maverick.

Bike is now knackered, left foot is now knackered, and solicitors are in pursuit of myopic Ford-driving w@nker. Quite exciting, though. Had one ambulance, two police cars and a fire-engine in attendance.

That makes one Volvo, one MX5, two VW Golfs, a Ford Maverick and three broken bones in the last 18 months. Deep, deep joy.

On the bright side, it gives me more time to loaf around reading the cr@p you lot post here ;o)

As a recent subscriber to PBO (if I'm allowed to mention it here without getting a good thrashing behind the bike sheds!) I've been getting into the spirit of the thing and created my own editions for the rest of the year using crayons and old copies of the Sun. You should see the December '02 edition with Pamela Andersen riding a snow-covered jetski 'bareback'! When the 'official' mag drops through the letterbox I try looking for articles on Posh changing an outdrive bearing but it's not the same. How come the posted copies don't include any of the stick-on freebie guides- is my postie building a Bayliner in his shed from discarded milk cartons by following the advice in these things?

Re: Blood on the sofa

So you got your copy already then? Actauly, I wouldn't mind siting on the sofa and reading the cr@ap I wrote too, but massive postal delay caused by bottleneck in N London.

Re: The big issue

We were walking along Long Acre in Covent Garden and this young tramp chap confronted us. "Look" he said animatedly, "I know you don't want the Big Issue cos it's a bit crap, so how about ...The Dandy, or What Car or today's Sun!!". I gavim a quid for making us all laugh.

Re: Compensation

Thanks, but already have a pack of slavvering rottweilers keen to do battle on my behalf. They seem to think that a Mang108 is the least I should expect as a payout.

In the meantime, it's back to the sofa, the PS2 and SSX Tricky for me (I AM the ubermeister!).
